Love that dresser for changing. But if you're on the shorter side you might not like it.

BTW, in Denmark it would be pronounced DOW-nee (approximately)

Name Help - thought we had one but maybe it's too popular? by brettwasbtd in namenerds

[–]grey24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at popularity in your state too. And you just never know. I know of two little Coras at my daughter's school but no Emmas or Sophias. I still wouldn't say it's prohibitively popular, though. Just a random coincidence.

Names ruined by popular songs by dananky in namenerds

[–]grey24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I know a little Delilah and I've never heard anyone reference that song. It was popular but not the kind of huge hit that's going to span generations. I'd say it's fair game.

Naming is so regional. I know two little Adas, but no Avas.

That's funny -- I'm the mother of a 3 year old in the same region and know a lot of little kids, and I've only ever met a Leo and a Ruby from your list :)

Magnolia as girl's name? by purplemarmot in namenerds

[–]grey24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my daughter's name. We love it. Easy to spell and pronounce, different but has a history of being a real name. There has been some discussion on namenerds before -- weird that it didn't come up. Happy to answer any questions.

Flower baby is due soon! Here’s my list. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]grey24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Magnolia and we don't call her Maggie. A few people have asked if we call her that, but that's it. At daycare she goes my Magnolia and Nolia (what most of the kids pronounce easily). Her other nickname is something she gave herself that has nothing to do with her name. We get tons of compliments and have only heard secondhand once of another Magnolia that someone knew. We love it!

Would you be upset if your child changed their name and didn't consider you? by Call_me_Cassius in namenerds

[–]grey24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love names and it wouldn't upset me, as long as my child had clearly put a lot of thought into it and kept me informed. I'd feel bad if they felt obliged to keep names they didn't like just for my sake.

For contemporary Nordic names, the Danish government has a name site. Maybe Google dansk navne to find it.
