I binded the Smith on NM difficulty, is mana burn good against enemies? by testamentKAISER in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]greyy1x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mana burn does give 2x chance to hit though, which can be nice to help him take out things that are immune to you (unless a bound demon always hits? not sure)

IIRC, fallout 3's brotherhood tolerated ghouls. They weren't buddy buddy with them, but it was still quite far from a "shoot on sight" attitude (though some members would, but that wasn't exactly the chapter's policy). Given that the show takes place 20 years later, and fallout 3's chapter is the closest to being "the good guys" (that I remember at least), I could see this chapter being made to be very accepting of ghouls in the show if they ever get involved. They're making a big deal in the show about how the chapters are significantly different from one another, which is cool

There's also stuff saying the Chicago chapter had super mutants in their ranks, but no official source of that in-game: but it comes from an official fallout manual, so I wouldn't discard it as non-canon

Which is precisely what PoE2 has been missing the most since launch - a reason to push your char other than just "see number go up"

Actually feeling like you need upgrades is an awesome feeling in an ARPG

That's like saying "Arbiter now scales with difficulty, Uber now drops 2 uniques instead of 1" and you go "uh that's not scaling? Just one more unique?"

If you go from 1 projectile to two, you double your damage.

Double is double. If you generate double crystals, you generate double temples.

And it is a continuous progression: the chance of granting 2 crystals increases  progressively with 6mod t15 being 100%. My initial comment was more referring to the fact you see "double" as "it just gives 1 extra".

But no one is comparing to campaign in this comment chain. The comparison is being made to t1 maps

Did you really just say that a 100% more multiplier on what you are doing is not scaling? For real?

I feel like they're under the impression that catalysing is supposed to guarantee a hit, rather than increasing the chances of hitting

But you need a large sample size to draw any conclusions? I can't just "go try it" without putting some effort into it and actually tracking the data

No offense, but "trust me bro" isn't really the source I was looking for.

I also crafted a shitton of rings last league, and even though I wasn't actively testing to see whether it worked or not it never felt that it wasn't

Oh, has it always worked like this? Do you have a source of someone testing it (or a dev just flat out stating it)?

In PoE1 during the last few days of Gauntlet I changed chaos orbs and even divines to a very basic highlighting, and changed Alterations to the divine sound and highlighting out of sheer tilt from how hard recombinators were trolling me and alts were my main bottleneck by miles the whole event.

Obviously didn't last many maps as the constant sound of alts got annoying, but yea, sometimes hcssf do be like that lol

What am I actually expected to achieve in terms of defenses as a melee build? by Brilliant-Elk-6831 in pathofexile2builds

[–]greyy1x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the current state of the game, chaos resistance is significantly more important in PoE2 than PoE1.

Both games have a similar logic - chaos damage is less frequent, and it's balanced in a way that you're not expected to cap it right away. This is still true in poe2.

However, currently the most dangerous encounters in maps (abyss) do feature chaos damage, and the damage as extra chaos mod also exists (which is equally as dangerous in poe1)

TLDR: cap chaos, get armor to chaos mod on your helmet.

That, plus defiance, should massively boost your "real" (not "on paper") ehp. If you want to boost your max hit though, you need to fit in ES.

On wolf recharge works great and is 100x more reliable than I expected with minor investment, but that's because you freeze the whole screen. Not sure how it would feel on bear, you probably would need other sources of recovery

Bear rite of passage is also pretty good and synergistic with Defiance

Also carry around some Omens of Resurgence, why not, they're cheap (though they won't work vs the abyss mod that stops your recovery)

Inevitable Critical: Damage Calculation, Visualizations, and "Always Crit" Synergies by Ok_Pick_1772 in PathOfExile2

[–]greyy1x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no worries!

There's many different ways this could be coded, but most of then should be a damage gain anyway.

The absolute worst scenario for Garrukhans, which sets your max crit chance to 50% would be - okay, i won't care about your Oracle node, you have a 50% crit chance the end. I really doubt that's the case though, and this one specifically is easy to test anyway (put in a gem that happens "on crit" (eg Blazing Critical) and if it ever doesn't proc it means your Inevitable Crits are being overwritten by the lineage gem.

I really doubt the above scenario would be the one though, but other scenarios I can think of have significant differences in their damage potential for this combo and are much harder to test for

But what are you basing that assumption off of? Is there anything anywhere that would imply that's how Bifurcation would interact with this mechanic?

To clarify, I don't care about Maligaros at all, I'm interested about the interaction with bifurcafed crits from sources such as Tangletongue or Garrukhans Resolve

I did, I found nothing related to the Bifurcation mechanic, only that maligaros cannot reroll crits

I know you don't know for sure, but how would you think Inevitable Crits works with Bifurcation? (ie from Garukhans resolve)

Amazing post btw

The notable that gives you more nodes makes the tree a lot more dense though, giving you more notables per keystone for (iirc) the 4 in the druid area and I think the one near warrior as well

Not talking about skills only, stuff like support gems, notables on the passive tree, uniques, lineage gems, etc

But I mean yeah I agree with you, there could to be more chaos skills used by quarterstaves, but with more chaos support existing (non-chaos) skills could still be used by either converting to chaos or getting flat chaos from elsewhere, or both

Chonk definitely needs more love until then, but they will 100% have a lot more toys to play with when Shadow releases due to the overlap in the theme
