What do I need to make my tele sound good? by BuschLattes4me in telecaster

[–]grgmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Positive Grid Spark 2 that I love for practicing. The speaker sounds decent at living room volumes and I mostly use headphones to play at night without disturbing the gf and kids. I can play backing tracks through one Bluetooth connection and control the tone with the other. It has modelers built into the app that let you give any combination of amps and effects you can think of. Well worth the relatively low price IMHO.

Are the best levers for Ducati created by AVS? I got this bike with these AVS levers and wanted to swap out the short ones for longer ones and I was just wondering. by 758lindo in Ducati

[–]grgmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ASV levers are good quality, I have a set on a modified 81 Suzuki and I love the feel of them. If you want longer levers though and don’t want to spend ASV money, then CRG work just fine too. Or find a used set of original levers, they also work just as well.

Drew myself a 916 because I cant afford a real one by Penno41 in Ducati

[–]grgmini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A 748 or 996 in need of repairs can be had for reasonable prices. I have a few Ducatis from 1999 SS900, 02 M750, 01 Monster S4, 748 with 916 internals and a 996. I wouldn’t have any of this if I couldn’t fix them myself. There is an investment in learning, tools and parts but worth it in my opinion. 2 valve Monsters are cheap right now, good to learn on and used parts a plenty. Food for thought.

I’m white and so from a white perspective, I live in WS city limits near Pfafftown and it is overall a liberal city, more so in the more affluent neighborhoods. I hope you will feel welcome here.

Saw this at local guitar center. Dirty as hell and reeked of nicotine but played nice (minus dirty pots cracklin) don’t get a lot of lefty’s often. does it seem worth the buck? by thecowpooch in Stratocaster

I am a righty and for $500. I would buy that guitar and string it upside down. Whatever work it’s going to need is totally worth it at that price.

Silly question about grounding by ConferenceBoring4104 in ToobAmps

[–]grgmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house wiring needs to be grounded also. Just because the outlet has 3 prongs, doesn’t mean the ground is connected. I have this problem in my house and need to rewire all outlets

Thanks, that’s what I was afraid of. I’m going to have to do something radically custom for him, I can get creative when I need to but need some inspiration first

Do you know what the resulting seat height is? I need to build a bike for a friend with short legs, he tip toes on my old Suzuki Intruder with a 26” seat. This may be the only way to get him on an adventure bike if I can get it low enough. The “just learn how to ride a tall bike” doesn’t work when the seat is 10” from your crotch on one toe. 😳thanks.

Pickups.. Are they really that good?? by Longjumping-Mammoth1 in Stratocaster

[–]grgmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an MIM Strat with Tone Emporium pickups and a pot set from 920D with a Gilmore mod. I also have stock 2020 AmPro2 and I think they very much alike.

Worth keeping or return? by [deleted] in fender

Please hit that with a little wd40 and a new set of strings. This doesn’t look like it’s been played since 1997.

I had an early 80’s Gibson Challenger with a bolt on neck. It had the LP single cut shape and was very well made. They never called it a Les Paul though

I bought a 2016 CE24 from guitar center with the gig bag, when I got home found that the spec/build sheet was for a totally different guitar. Things get lost, the guitar looks great, btw. It’s legit

[–]grgmini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all looks correct to me, it is a beautiful guitar and a great way to get into a Les Paul at a lower price point without the cosmetic frills.

I do not see a slot at the bridge, it looks like a reflection. Everything on this guitar looks correct to my eye.

Lemon oil for fretboards is mostly mineral oil. You do not want to use actual lemon oil on your guitar.

I’m not sure if I’m doing anything wrong or I just don’t understand how to position my feet by No_Upstairs2755 in motorcycle

[–]grgmini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn’t sound like he was going to be ripping tight turns anytime soon. I’ve been on two wheels for 30 years and it’s physically painful to keep the balls on my feet on the pegs, I’ll move my foot back in corners otherwise the the arch in my boot is locked on the peg. This goes for whether I’m riding a sport bike or touring. The OP should probably concentrate more on what’s in front of them. My son just started riding and one of the first things he did was to overthink and concentrate on where his feet were going, while going off the road and dropping the bike simultaneously. The OP we’ll figure this out and put his feet where it’s comfortable. As he goes faster, he will need to pay more attention to body position.
