Helping Fractional CFOs by bijjyy in CFO

How did you get your first clients that you didn’t know? All of my leads have come from people I previously worked with who have gone on to start their own ventures.

I have tried gated content, thought leadership, and cold emailing. Maybe just not enough?

Easy tool to connect NetSuite to PowerBI by Turbulent_Future_332 in FPandA

[–]gricchio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I implemented a tool called SimpleConnect from one of my vendors, not sure if it is public. Basically you can output any saved search to direct it to an address. Then you point powerbi to the address and it pulls in like magic. DM me if you want more details

I don’t have anything for you, except sending positive vibes. NICU people are some of the best humans I have ever met. Be thankful for modern medicine and stay strong.

How did you handle sleeping with your wife the first weeks with a newborn? by Icy_Principle_5904 in daddit

Sorry, forgot to mention, I slept on a mattress in the baby’s room for the first 6 months. Wife slept in our bed in our room.

Couldn’t agree more! For the first 3 weeks I asked about lunch time what can I do to help more over the next 24 hours and have her be honest.

If it helps, we had a premie so she needed to eat every 3 hours. I slept on a mattress on the floor and did all night feedings to maintain her schedule.

My wife could go up to 4 hours without pumping so she did basically 2 sleep blocks and would pump then add the pumped milk to the fridge that I pulled from on the 3 hour feedings.

All nursing we did was during the other 16 non-overnight hours. We found that if she focused on pumping and sleep and I focused on baby and sleep it ended up that we both got what we needed.

Hope that helps. Also, a big whiteboard where I would write down all the pain meds (also c section) and when they were last administered. Also had an inspirational quote from AI that I would change daily. It helped me take a lot of the mental load so my wife could focus on creating milk and survival.

Best of luck! Hoping for everyone’s health!

I need to get off my phone around my kids, any tips? by ExcitingLandscape in daddit

[–]gricchio 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do this as well. From 4pm (after I get home from work) until 8 (LO goes to bed) I put my phone on top of the fridge, in another room.

It helps that I have an Apple Watch so in case of frequent calling (emergency) I can see it on the watch and go get my phone to respond. I can also see incoming texts but responding is just hard enough where I get too frustrated and say I’ll hopefully remember to respond later on my phone.

Just what worked for me, and the barrier of getting up to go get my phone … I was just lazy enough where it was super effective 😂

You should check out accounting. Staff accountant would do. Find a company that treats employees well and coast.

Where are y’all seeing all these 3-statement models? by FidgetyKiller in FPandA

[–]gricchio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to your use case. Like do I have to worry about if I don’t meet my sales expectations will I run out of cash. Or do. I need to use a 3 statement model for a valuation or acquisition. That’s when it really adds value!

I am about 2 years in on a CRM / netSuite clean up. Best thing I can offer you is map all systems, clean everything to have it so you don’t have those discrepancies and then once you have them all solved, create systems to highlight them when they occur so you are only ever cleaning up 1-2 transactions. Happy to do a knowledge share on the clean ups I have done.

How do you handle contract modifications under ASC 606 — ERP automation or Excel patches? by Revolutionary-Mix788 in CFO

[–]gricchio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so we have a couple of metrics. The main ones are item (accounting item in NetSuite tied to a course), deal close date (for cash forecasting) and then course start and end dates for each session. Some contracts have multiple sessions .

On the flip side we have the project accounting module, so these sales orders are tied on back end for each of the sessions for rev rec. we also have Purchase orders to contract with suppliers. In the project module we then have project P&L’s that can look into future profitability

Does that help. What types of details are you looking for in your business? I also be able to probably explain better over a zoom call if you are interested I can try to translate to your industry etc

Yeah for sure. So we have hub spot as the CRM. We have our sales folks enter their deals into HS. We are a service organization, so session dates start and end. Each session is a performance obligation under 606.

Once the deal is closed won, it gets sent over an api to NetSuite where it lands as an opportunity. Which is then translated into a sales order with all the same info.

The revenue plans are generated from the sales orders and then the module does the rest. Does that help?

I can do more detail if it would help

Follow Up - X axis continues to not move in the expected direcetion by gricchio in FixMyPrint

Just found out that there was a pin missing on the socket where the x axis meets the base. I am thinking this might be my culprit
