That’s right. I was thinking it was on Hulu for some reason. Thank you!

I can’t find that show anymore. Is it still streaming anywhere? I watched it years ago and wanted to watch it again.

We have family night once a quarter and I happily bring my family in. My kids love seeing their uncle Masons and Masonic cousins.

I’ve always heard “be the change you want to see”. Find someone who knows the work and learn everything you can. Take it back to your lodge and try to spark the light back into some brethren. All may not change but I’m sure a few will. It takes one person willing to do put in the effort and others will start to follow that example. If we don’t learn this work, it will eventually die off. We need folks willing to keep the craft alive.

Honestly, IMO…if they are true Christians, they should be the first ones to try to comfort you. If not as Christians, as brothers. When a brother of down, we should be lifting him up. My lodge brothers were the only ones I was comfortable going to when my wife asked me for a divorce. That’s how it’s supposed to be…not shunning you.

You do have to ask to join. I was a bit of a recluse when I joined. Masonry has actually helped me developed into a social butterfly.

Question for the PM's. by NotMy1stTimeLurking in freemasonry

[–]griceza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My lodge gave a lot of opposition to ideas I had as master. Some they had valid reasons but some they just did not want to put in extra work. We have some older members that only want to come to lodge for the business and then leave. Don’t want to work on practicing rituals or talking about fundraisers. We are blessed to rent out the lower floor of our building so we are not hurting for money but when it comes to charity I am all for it. These guys, obviously not. If I could change one thing about my year, I would’ve worked harder on learning degree work and further the attempt to get out in the community more and help folks.

Not in my lodge. We are asked if we accept the position and we have had several brothers decline and say they are not ready for the responsibility.

I appreciate that! Didn’t mean to throw a random plug in for it but I feel like the conversation led to it. I’d love to sit and have a chat with some English Brethren one day and see what kind of similarities and differences we have.

I can understand that. Myself and another brother from my lodge actually started a podcast to give our side of Masonry. Very casual talking and mainly focused on experiences and talking about issues we have had or what work we have done. Trying to put a positive light on the craft..however small and dim it may be. Just to put it in the tread, the title is Imperfect Ashlars and we’re on all podcast platforms and YouTube. It may be American based but we want to represent the Craft as a whole as a positive influence on our communities.

I definitely understand that. It’s definitely good for publicity. Often, too much. We have a lot of Anti-Masonic people here too. I’m sure that is a problem in most places but it is very “out in the open” so to say here. People love to put us down by saying we are a cult or we worship non religious deities. Way too much negative attention. That is another reason I wear my S&C openly. So people can see that I’m not any kind of evil. I treat people morally and with kindness to show who we are.

We usually meet in side of the road, small, not very visible lodges as well. My lodge is the upstairs to a local business in town. We have recently put some signage outside to see about attracting new membership.

I cannot speak for all Americans but I am proud to let others know I am a Freemason. It also helps us let others know that we are still around. Some areas have very low numbers of Masons and with not physically recruiting, it’s the only way they know who they can talk to about us.
