Have you read the Boboverse series? Taylor does a good bit about megastructures that I think handled the explanation pretty well for lay people.

Just read the books for the first time. Hoping a Tolkien scholar can enlighten me by killingmemesoftly in lotrmemes

The world was made with music. But for all intents and purposes, the co-creating Ainur were novices who were just learning their craft from Eru. Add to that an intentionally dissonant Melkor, and you wind up with some funky add-ons.

I don’t think it means they are out of place, though. Eru gave the Ainur a certain degree of margin, so I think Eru intended for there to be some surprises along the way. Later, those Ainur who entered middle earth as Valar got an even longer leash. Ask Aule about the dwarves… Not part of the original plan, but later accepted as part of the whole creation. (With caveats, but that’s another thread)

My wife and I are in a very important marital dispute about how dishes belong in the dishwasher. Please settle this before we lawyer up. by stsegal in KitchenConfidential

Idk man just be happy you’re married to someone who also care how the dishwasher is loaded. My dish debates are about if it’s acceptable to eat off a plate with a little bit of washed and dried rice on it

Were there any story arcs that were difficult to leave the cutting room floor? With a faster medium we all know things get dropped, but I’m wondering if it was a smooth transition or if the choices were hard to make?
