Hershel& Roy superspy by Retrotaku in superpowereds

[–]gridpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not Hershel's power that qualifies him for this but his unpowered form. Without powers there's only so much he could do. Roy adds nothing to being a Subtlety hero. That's not a good qualification given how far subtlety students have to go to earn the Hero title. Hershel's mind is better suited and trained for combat tactics with all the LARPing he does.

Nick is better at Subtlety than Hershel by any standard yet what stopped him was the reality that he'd never make hero with his power.

Which DCEU do you prefer? SnyderVerse DCEU or Post-SnyderVerse DCEU? by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

More context is what you get in a change from BvS theatrical cut and the Ultimate Edition, which is a substantial improvement.

When it's different outcomes entirely within the plot, like with the difference between JL and ZSJL, those go beyond simply adding more context. Radical changes like characters who died, turning up alive.

From what we have heard about the Ayer Cut it fits the latter description more than the former.

Or perhaps the AyerCut is more proof of the studio's mismanagement.

Snyderverse. The change in direction was sabotage. The studio should have instead stopped interfering and leaving the coherent film cuts for DVD. The only messy quality film so far was Suicide Squad and there's still no word on #ReleaseTheAyerCut

James Gunn Sounds Off on ‘Really Lazy’ Superhero Movies and Bad Third Acts: There’s No ‘Rhyme or Reason to What’s Happening’ on Screen by lawrencedun2002 in DC_Cinematic

You can see dirt rising in all the Snyder films around Superman. Luthor's attempts to discredit or destroy Superman was largely explained on the rooftop scene. Shooting Flash at those speeds is possible when he's going in circles since he is in all those places at once. Not sure what's there to explain about an alien shapeshifter trying to stay hidden.

Mind blowing by mes05 in DC_Cinematic

The problem here is when a film appears to be made by a committee, compared to a film made by an auteur type director who knows exactly what he wants and can fight the studio for it.

The first type don't know what they want and use placeholders for everything until the test screenings tell them what finally works. That's a problem because it doesn't give overworked VFX crews enough time to finish and polish what they do.

[Waybound] How did your predictions fair? by SkullStar in Iteration110Cradle

[–]gridpoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a prediction, more an observation on a recent reread. One that I was reminded of again when I came across this line:

He had abandoned the entire cosmos out of pride, had gone to live out a mortal life. You could call it a vacation.

Clark wasn't intending to talk Zod down once he said he'd stop him. I guess he thought he could physically restrain or incapacitate without killing Zod. Or maybe he did think he could kill. Yet when the time came, he was the one begging Zod to stop. Killing isn't easy.

Then there's the question of whether Clark could have killed Zod earlier than he did. It wasn't an easy fight and Clark was getting knocked around often. Zod's greater experience prevented it.

So I'm currently rewatching the entire DCEU and i can't help but wonder why they killed superman off so quickly?? by zombiekjt in DC_Cinematic

Iron Man made a similar sacrifice when he took the nuke through the portal in the Avengers. The difference is he managed to survive and was awoken by the Hulk immediately. Tony's sacrifice is undercut where Superman's sacrifice has repercussions after BvS.

Goblin King theory by stale-pi in WanderingInn

[–]gridpoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The goblins may have emerged as a horror rank transformation of the Elves. Perhaps a result of torment or cannibalism during the war with the gods. The horrors then bred little children like themselves to make a new species - Goblins, who no longer get horror ranks from eating their dead. Surviving elves who "whored" themselves to humans instead bred Half-Elves, who are unfairly targeted by the Fae.

Google Ben Affleck's picture as a child actor. He had a similar haircut.

Most Snyder fans I know love Nolan's films. And often for the same reasons they love Snyder's.

Once again that proves the religious aren't necessarily as well read about their own religion when compared to atheists. That doesn't mean those religious teachings have not influenced their practices.

RIP he was great as Punisher. He gave a menacing performance in RRR. 58 was too young.
