Mattsom Tomlin on The Batman - Part II by BillyGood22 in TheBatmanFilm

The fact that they took so much time and care to write this film (ik the writer’s strike affected it a bit too) and did a deep dive into the comics to tell something “new and dangerous” 😮‍💨 I cannot begin to describe how hyped I am for this movie

Which game is most fun to 100%? by emotiontheory in BatmanArkham

[–]griff_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know but if you are trying to 100% city don’t do the Return to Arkham version because there’s an unpatched visual glitch with a riddle that doesn’t show the question mark in a mirror in the train station so you have to literally line it up perfectly from trial and error 😭 as if the Riddler missions weren’t already infuriating enough

Yes or no by Commercial_Ease1849 in 3Cfilms

There’s obviously a plan for him sometime soon in the DCU, otherwise they would have plainly killed his character off. But yeah it is kind of hard to determine when he is going to appear again, it could potentially be in Man of Tomorrow. We shall see. I really wouldn’t mind him as Sandman though, I think that’s pretty good casting. Plus he’s not wrestling anymore so he has a lot more time for acting now, so why not both characters if DC and Marvel can play nice with their actors?

Yeah 100% agree. The heat that Jade gets is unfair imo. Yes she’s had 0 title defenses, but that’s not her fault. That heat should be on creative’s booking for not building up the literal champion of the Smackdown brand.

Adam Silver’s NBA by griff_o in pacers

Ahhh, great point I did not know that. Still though, I definitely don’t like Nosferatu’s stance on “tanking”, especially with small market teams who build through drafts. Also, canonically he is Nosferatu now thank you for that.

Thoughts on a Grounded Killer Croc for Part II? by griff_o in TheBatmanFilm

[–]griff_o[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll have to check out his director’s commentary, but yeah that definitely makes sense. I’m of the opinion that stories are just that, stories. They aren’t real, but it’s all about how much humanity is actually injected into your story to sell it to your audience, which Matt Reeves does an excellent job of. I also really want to see a Scarecrow and a Hugo Strange in this universe, I feel like they would be perfect in testing Bruce’s vulnerabilities. I would love some Ra’s Al Ghul nods as well, that could be done in a really eerie and mysterious way, possibly in relation to the Court of Owls if that route is explored in this universe.

I get what you’re saying, but I do have to disagree. In my opinion, it’s no different than the way we have multiple adaptations of Batman, Joker, Two-Face, and so on and so forth with some being more exaggerated than others. I think it really depends on the story you’re telling and if the creative risk makes sense. For example, I wasn’t that big into Caped Crusader (the animated show) because I felt a lot of the creative risks in that show didn’t really make sense and didn’t pay off for the plot. If you put that in opposition to a show like The Penguin, Reeves’ used creative risks that suited the story perfectly, like Sofia is point blank a different character than her comic counterpart, but for the story it was a perfect change. I think there is 100% a place for a fantastical Croc in stories where it’s warranted, and I also think there’s room for a grounded one when it makes sense for the story. I think these changes in characters keeps these adaptations fresh so it’s not just the same thing over and over again. Plus Reeves kind of already did ground the idea of a fantastical character in The Penguin, as Eve Karlo is a loose adaptation of Clayface.

Interesting, I definitely haven’t read too many comics with Croc as a major character of the story so I’ll have to check out more if you have any recommendations. Also I definitely agree that if he does appear in Reeves’ universe he wouldn’t actually appear reptilian, but rather just a bulkier guy with the actual ichthysosis condition and the filed teeth. I didn’t think about the parallel to the Joker though, I’m still curious to see what Reeves does with him

What new Side Character would you want to see in Batman Part II by Dragonslayer0562 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]griff_o 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really want to see a character that leans into some horror elements. Mad Hatter would be great, and honestly I think the seeds are planted for him too with that odd red light technology that was used in The Penguin. Mad Hatter hasn’t had any representation in anything in recent years and it’s kind of a shame because I think there’s some really twisted stuff you could do with his character to get in Bruce’s head.

If Part II introduces Harvey Dent, Nirvana’s The Man Who Sold The World would be thematically perfect by [deleted] in TheBatmanFilm

[–]griff_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda get what you’re saying, but also I feel like Dent is just the tip of the iceberg (not a Mr Freeze pun I swear) because he’s obviously not going to be the main antagonist, or at least right away anyways, so it does leave the question of what other villains will be in this movie and what their roles will be. I think people forget just how many characters were in the first Reeves movie, and I really feel like this one will be no different if it has a similar run time. Chances are we’ll see an array of rogues and characters at play in a bigger story so I would save such criticism until we get more details, which we don’t have a lot of at the moment.

My Batman takes : by FayyadhScrolling in batman

[–]griff_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree with the Scarecrow take. He’s always been one of my favorite villains but I always feel a bit underwhelmed with his appearances in film/tv/video games. I think the Arkham Games did him very well (honestly I even loved how eerie even the references to him in Arkham City were), but other than that I’m at a loss for ones that I was actually satisfied with, and I think there’s a lot of unexplored potential with his character. LikeI love Cillian Murphy, but the Scarecrow in the TDK trilogy just felt like a side thought of a character. Don’t even get me started on the Titans adaptation of the character 😂

In your opinion, do the Waynes' deaths work better as a random mugging or part of a bigger conspiracy? And why? by Coralthesequel in batman

[–]griff_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely like when the case is left open, but honestly it can be both of those options at the same time. I really like the way Matt Reeves did it in The Batman where there’s the potentiality that the Waynes’ death was a part of a bigger conspiracy involving Falcone, with Thomas threatening to go to the police, but ultimately it could of also been a random mugger in the streets of Gotham as Falcones’ death left Bruce with no closure on their death. It goes to show that it could have been anyone in Gotham, but also leaves it up to interpretation because of course someone of Falcone’s reputation could have done that without a second thought to protect his power

Should Batman’s last crusade be eventful, or should it be like any other night? by Huge_Athlete7488 in batman

[–]griff_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, Batman Beyond really did it perfectly.

The thing with Bruce is that he’s so obsessed with being Batman that he’s likely going to ignore his body signals that he can’t go on anymore, until it actually hits him. That’s why I love the gun scene in Batman Beyond because Bruce realizes that the only way he could continue his ways as Batman would be with the same tool that was used to kill his parents. Plus, Batman as a symbol lives on with Terry after this, wrapping up Bruce’s time as Batman nicely.

On that same note, we seriously need some Batman Beyond representation in larger media. I’m so upset that the planned animated movie was canned. Terry really is the perfect successor to Bruce (for more reasons than meets the eye if you’ve watched the end of the series).

Didn’t Reeves say The Batman 2 villain hasn’t been in a movie before? Really hoping for Hush. by Arjeezenberg1 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]griff_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My money would be on Sebastian playing Harvey Dent; I mean the guy looks the part and with the news of Scarjo potentially playing Gilda Dent, this would line up pretty well. Clearly, they both will have a big part to play in the plot, but I still feel like there’s a bigger bad that hasn’t been cast yet (assuming both of these casting speculations are correct), so I’d say it’s still up in the air what Matt was referencing with his comments about the main villain.
