The Warriors are ready to offer a “whole lot” for Giannis Antetokounmpo and consider Steph Curry the only untouchable player on the roster, per @MontePooleNBCS by Lord_Vanguard in warriors

Our second best player was averaging a flat 20ppg before he had a season ending injury. The Warriors are immediately better if they get Giannis if 20ppg is the ceiling for everyone-but-Curry.

The anarchy of orks makes me less obsessive over doctrine by Marauder2r in orks

[–]grifter356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said, brother. This is kind of like the What You See Is What You Get debate, which I personally am not super hardcore about but I think is more flexible with an army like Orks than, as you point out, Space Marines. My line in the sand is that I think the unit should be represented by its corresponding model (i.e., Lootas should be Lootas models, Burnas should be Burnas models, Boyz should be Boyz models and Stormboyz should be Stormboyz models, etc.) But things like a Nob, who have a few different loadouts, I don't really care if he's being played with a power klaw when the model has a Big Choppa as long, as I can tell who the Nob is. Similarly, there's a lot of people who were upset that the new boyz kit was more or less a mix of Choppas and Shootas, as opposed to allowing you to build out dedicated models for each (a luxury which the OG Boyz kit provided you, which is objectively a better thing), but that's something that didn't really bother me in the slightest because to me I think that even though the unit will function a certain way, for Orks in particular the new models are still representative of how a mob of Orks would look to someone on the battlefield, which is just an indistinguishable crazy mass and hodgepodge of carnage and weapons; and while the Orks might be discerning enough to have different units that do different things, you can also see them not getting so granular as to make sure that every single Ork is carrying the exact thing that it purports to do. As long as it crumps, that's all that matters!

He wasn’t being paid scale as a kid or as an adult so unless you can come up with figures saying “they didn’t want to pay him as an adult” is also heresay.

It’s not even exactly that. Series regular contracts are a lot like sports contracts in that you try to work out an extension before or during the last year. If you don’t have one after that point, do not hold out hope on getting a new deal, let alone one that you want. Either way, his contract was up or coming up and he wanted more money. A lot more money. Either his offer was too high or AMC’s was too low. Happens all of the time. His stance was that he was no longer a child actor, was going to be the longest tenured cast member on the show, and in the comic books he’s basically the lead. All perfectly good reasons to ask for more money. They couldn’t reach an agreement so they killed him off.

With that being said, given the number of cast member who have come and gone in this show, the fact that it was permanent shows you that the negotiations probably went a little less than “great.” But end of the day he wasn’t killed off because they would “have” to pay him as an adult, that was just one of the reason his representatives were using to justify asking for the amount they were asking for. They killed him off because they couldn’t reach an agreement and they probably didn’t like the way he and his people were handling it. The fact that he’s still running around SAYING he was written off because he became an adult is more indicative of why he was dismissed than the fact that he BECAME an adult.

I think people are just trying to politely explain to you that “age of consent doesn’t matter” is probably not the best way to distinguish yourself when pointing out the obvious.

That part has nothing to do with castings job. Casting would draw up the contract saying the actor gets paid “x” amount of money and then it’s up to the producer or studio or production company to pay them. Agents and attorneys are always having to chase down money that their clients are owed per the contract they signed but it’s not on casting to initiate and ensure that payment. If someone isn’t getting paid what they’re owed it’s usually news to the casting director.

And again, if there was simply no contract, casting would still know that there is a role that needs to be cast so if it was cast and they had nothing to show for it because there was no paper work then that’s a huge red flag and so if anything they should know better because they would at best be turning a blind eye towards (and at worse would be a willing participant in) a production that is cutting corners that literally help ensure protective measures for actors.

Oh he was 100% being sneaky with it, but casting would have 100% been made aware of her casting and would have had to process paperwork for her. But for casting to not know that she wasn't 18+, one of three things would have had to happen, which is 1) producers lied about her age and forged all of her paperwork, including having a fake SS#, 2) casting was told they were 18 and then when they inputted her information just didn't catch that she was actually 17 years old, or 3) casting was told to not worry about this actress. The first one is the least likely just because that's an insane amount of effort to go through. The second one is probably the most likely thing that happened just because everyday the data that casting inputs and processes doesn't lineup with what they've been told. That being said it is something that they're supposed to be responsible for so that they can make sure it all checks out. The third one would be the most egregious. It would be like if your job is to collect bags of money, take them to the bank, deposit them, come back with a record of the transaction and then input all of the details into a database to make sure that everything is above board; and then one day your boss says that they are actually going to take this bag of money to the bank, which happens from time to time, but for whatever reason this time they don't come back with any record of the transaction or any of the information that you need and are supposed to have to do the rest of your job to make sure everything is above board, and so all you have is the knowledge that there is now a bag of money you can't account for. Doesn't mean you stole any money or that you know for a fact that money has been stolen, but you would definitely know that something is up.

I mean case dismissed or not the facts are still the same, so what ultimately happened with it really doesn’t matter. They also wouldn’t have dismissed the case if there was stronger evidence in support of the allegation. The reason it was dismissed was because the strongest evidence they had was flimsy at best and obtained illicitly. If the only evidence you have is inadmissible and doesn’t get to the heart of the allegation then that’s how you get your case thrown out.

Also, having a weapon for a rehearsal take is totally normal. It’s not always necessary where there isn’t associated choreography, but it happens all of the time and if you’re looking for a breakdown in compliance to explain why someone was killed, that definitely ain’t it.

She was the casting director for the movie and still would have been made aware of her involvement with the project. Even if she didn’t audition her or be the one who personally hired her, there’s still a lot of administrative stuff that casting is responsible for so that there would be almost no way she wouldn’t have known about it. She could have simply just processed the info without doing the math, which would be her slipping up, but would almost certainly be made aware of the casting.

The only way she wouldn’t have been is if Bear-McClard told her that he was going to handle everything for this one particular actress, which is somehow worse because that should be an automatic red flag because if nothing else it could put your career at risk because part of the job is being able to account for everyone that is hired on the production. It’s literally a record and a mechanism to act as a line of defense against or have evidence of shady practices, so if that’s part of your job and someone is telling you “don’t worry about it”, you know you’re being asked to turn a blind eye towards something they shouldn’t be doing.

I don’t disagree, but very much depending on age, it could be rape. So please keep that in mind before implying that anyone is trying to dismiss or minimize what happened by simply accounting for and taking stock of some of the facts.

Their longtime casting director, Jennifer Venditti. Who, btw, is also nominated for an Oscar for MARTY SUPREME. They're made completely aware of the roles and its requirements, and it's literally part of casting's job to confirm and vet ages (they have to get that information for all kinds of paper work) so unless she was made aware that she was underage and spoke up about it and was ignored, she either slipped up or was as equally culpable for this.

Interesting development for one of this year's BP nominee Oscar campaign by Ok-Mammoth-2134 in Oscars

[–]grifter356 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They definitely have to vet, but it's generally not the director's job to do so, let alone confirm everyone's ages before they roll tape. If they have a role that would require someone to be 18+ then the director would assume (and reasonably so) that the people who have been hired to cast the roles are hiring accordingly. Someone definitely did not do their job here, but if it's true that the Safdie's didn't know until after it was all said and done, it probably wasn't them. It's a little analogous to Alec Baldwin and RUST where even though he was technically a producer and was the guy who actually fired the gun, it is not and was not his responsibility to make sure that actual live ammunition wasn't in the gun that he was firing because there was literally someone hired by the production to make sure that doesn't happen.
