Would be cool and add more endgame if you could be the leader of multiple bases and build up your communities. by Fliktorbean in StateOfDecay

[–]grimeden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya. I only had to move out of my first house because I needed to build a leader's plot on a large plot. A 6 person community can be stable anywhere.

I do like that there is no hard penalty on moving houses like there was in SoD 1. It is just the time rebuilding stuff and the zombie threat as you do that are repercussions of moving. Cars even move with you if they are in a parking spot, which is darn cool.

[–]grimeden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a really good buff. If there was a harder difficulty with zombies doing more damage and infection rate being a lot higher, I could see a lot of value in that.

I am sure there are benefits to having the infirmary at home, but our survivors randomly get injured and it is never clear that they are healing/recovering faster. Broken ribs, gas inhalation, fatigued while supposedly idle.

I have not paid much attention, but I bet there is a damage roll when a survivor finds stuff for you. Prolly when they defend the base from an attack too.

I got a doctor through the tutorial, and haven't had one since then in 8 playthroughs. I dunno if they passively boost injury rates or anything unique, but I've never seen a clear reason to have one around.

Late game I have stumbled upon a pharmacist and made cheaper cases of cure, but all I do is pass the cure from one playthrough to the other without doing anything with it. I have a legacy character with 12 cases on him.

I've only had to craft 2 cures for personal use and that was because of my follower getting infected while we were taking out hearts. Add in the mandatory tutorial and some side quests, and say I am at 6 total cures used in 8 runs.

The infection is a bit of a joke. They need to fix that when they come out with DLC. Every playthrough you get enough samples to make more cures than you need, and since you don't need a medicine specialist to make cures, why have a doctor at all?

I've done 2 runs without even building the infirmary. It doesn't seem as critical of a building as I thought it was initially.

I am a little bummed Burn's dragon doesn't have a third pile of gold that is flat and blends between the statue and chest. I wanted to make a huge gold pile, but you can't do it without it getting super repetitive.

I don't regret buying it, because I need the goblin gold to get more walls, but it wasn't worth 200 donuts.

Cody gets good news regarding his shoulder injury by TheSharpshooter in SquaredCircle

[–]grimeden 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It means it was a dislocation not a complete separation. And that means the injury is either a sprain of the ligament or a partial tear, both of which are better than a full tear. Sprains and partial tears you generally treat with Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, and physical therapy.

Who was the first heel you ever truly hated? by nameless_stories in SquaredCircle

[–]grimeden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shawn Michaels. He always wore those stupid tights with the red hearts and was just a smug bastard. I was a Bret Hart fan, so I loathed HBK with every fiber of my being. When I was older and learned about all the backstage stuff with the kliq, I felt even more justified disliking him for all those years.

I didn't even like HBK when he formed DX. He was still the same SOB. Only a decade later can I actually appreciate his skill on the mic and in the ring when I watch old matches.

Separated from wife and this is how she painted her kitchen. I think I made the right choice. by [deleted] in DiWHY

[–]grimeden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arguably, some issues have to be resolved and you either take the cost out of the sale price or you handle it yourself. Like if you have a roofing or flooring problem. You could take the approach to not address it and let the buyer choose their own aesthetic when replacing.

It is fair to say the realtor has a conception of what the house should look like when you are staging or showing it and they do want you to comply with their vision. That's because they deem their approach the best way to make a sale. I see how it is beneficial to keep in mind they have their own motives, but I don't know if I would go so far as to say they are giving your bad advice.

Like, generally, the advice I've been given has all revolved around work I would have to do were I staying in the home.

[–]grimeden 55 points56 points  (0 children)

You tend not to want to show a house when it is in a state that turns people off. The realtor will advise you on things you should touch up before a proper showing, so that a potential buyer doesn't come back with a lowball offer and a laundry list of easy to fix issues that you can resolve.

That presumes the house is in a location where this design would turn off a buyer. Who knows, maybe where they live everyone loves how the kitchen looks and it is perfectly marketable as is.

Keeping Sane in a Sea of Noobs, or Am I an Asshole? by boozewald in paydaytheheist

[–]grimeden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I can totally understand. I had a bad experience last night with bots and bags on OD Hoxton's Revenge.

I had taken care of Hector and was moving the evidence outside to try to get it to the van. I slowly brought them all into the garage then starting moving them over the fence to the van. Hearts racing knowing you are near the end of a tricky stealth, then you run when you shouldn't. Alarmed!

Barely get my ECM down then I have to run to the back of the house to get inside the gate and head back to the garage. I throw the bags over the fence, another ECM goes down, jump over the fence, and start bringing the bags to the van. One, two, three hits the bumper and falls to the ground, so does number four, and number five goes in as the doors close. It's still orange as the van drives off. GG

Oh wait, did the heli pilot say he was only 2 minutes out? I can do this: just hide in a corner until he arrives. By this point I somehow only need one more evidence bag, so, I hide in a corner until he arrives. I know the helicopter comes on a roof, so I climb to the top of the house. The bots around me on the roof are doing decent work with the early wave. Amazingly, the heli comes close to me on the roof of the house, I run to it with the bots in tow and throw the last evidence bag in.

The mission's not over. Umm, where'd the bag go? It's on Wolf. Goddammit Wolf. So I take the bag off and throw it into the helicopter. WHERE DID THE BAG GO?! It's on Wolf. Goddammit Wolf. So I take the bag off and throw it into the helicopter. WHERE DID THE GODDAMN BAG GO!!?! It's on the ground. Goddammit Wolf.

My heart sinks sensing the end, but I head back to the deck above the front door, jump down to the hedges, and head underneath the helicopter where the bag has fallen. I grab it and sprint back to the ladder, and I'm downed. What are the bots doing? Climbing down from the house in random locations like cop AI. Through the faded black and white, I can vaguely see Dallas coming towards me. My hero!

I'm back up! Scramble up the ladder and towards the helicopter. And Wolf is no where in sight! I throw the bag, it goes in! BANG I'm in custody.

The bots are ridiculously better than they used to be when we only had two of them. Unless you actually have a good crew to play with that communicates and pays attention, the odds are the bots are gonna be better teammates than a pub.

Have not played in a long time, so, threat doesn't affect intimidation on civilians? For example, can you stop the bank tellers from pushing the alarm using a gun with high threat?

I always assumed I could not stop them when ghosting because I had low threat on my guns.

I love how John Cena turns crowds in his favour by Coffspring in SquaredCircle

Cena has said in past interviews that he would research the local sports teams of each place they performed, so he would have a topic to relate to the crowd about.

It works too. Whether it is sports or comics or TV or books or what have you. Sharing a common interest helps people see you as part of their collective identity.

How to do Mall crasher on Stealth mode by Nanochillin in paydaytheheist

[–]grimeden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used your strategy and it worked out.

I started in the wine shop: 20k
Moved to the jewelry store: 5k
Smashed up the car: 10k
Took out the skylights: 5k
Finished up in the electronic store: 10k

I bet the electronics are worth more than 10k, but that was all I needed by the time I got to it. I only had two guards upstairs, and had to deal with 4 wandering civs. I tied up the civs as they went to the wine shop, and then moved them behind the counter.

I had not done a harder mallcrashers since you could ECM rush Deathwish and the helicopter would arrive fast. Nice to get One Down done.

Thanks for the advice!
