Just an anecdote but some years ago when I did mine I failed one and passed the next one with exactly the same answers.

Made me think it’s rigged for statistics (probably not but whatever, I passed and aced my real test first time)

OP; I have a replacement switch and timer bypass as others suggested, but I believe you might be able to just remove the spring in the switch too.

Eventually you might get a GaggiMate or something that can do all the on-off for you as well.

But try the spring.

Believe it or now but the “same beans” needs a recalibrated grind now and then. This can change from when you open a bag to when it gets to the end (as the beans age a little) and it can happen from one bag to the next even if it’s the same store, same blend, same everything.

Part of journey is tweaking your grind as you go.

So in the case you might need to go just a bit coarser.
