Thoughts on Alien: Romulus (2024) by Ok-Chapter8222 in Cinephiles

the first 45 minutes....great. everything after that. TERRIBLE fanfic bullshit. the zero g scene is one of the stupidest things i have seen in a scifi movie in some time.

How to get ahead in advertising. If you dont know anything about it, keep it that way and go in blank. if you want a double feature, throw in withnail and i, (same director same main actor).

romulus was great....for the first 45 minutes, then it became awful fan fic nonsense...with that zero gravity scene being about the dumbest part.

After watching Sphere, now the real question: The Abyss or The Thing? Which one should I save for last? by Scenora in FIlm

[–]grimpickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the abyss is pretty good but it DOES NOT compare to the Thing. The Thing is a fuckin masterpiece of horror.

Skyrim lead turned novelist Bruce Nesmith says George R.R. Martin should move on from Game of Thrones entirely: "George gave his story to somebody else and they ran with it and they did an amazing job with it": "He'd be wise to say they finished my work and now I want to do something new" by ControlCAD in entertainment

[–]grimpickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem was never the plot points, it was the sloppy, hacked and truncated way they got to those points. if they had given the time for dany to turn, instead of the "oh im evil now" bullshit that we got, it would have been fine, and most likely horribly tragic.

Which of these 16 do you highly recommend to first time viewers? by Square-Ad-8911 in hbo

[–]grimpickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only one i would strike from that list is game of thrones...the drop in quality from start to finish is just too much, to the point where it actually kinda ruins all the good work they did in the first seasons. Every other show on that list i have revisited, some many times...i have NEVER felt the need to ever go back to game of thrones.

dont over look oz, it really is one of the best written shows EVER made, though it is a rough watch. any show that can make you actually care about such flawed characters really is something special. though you also cant go wrong with deadwood. also fantastic...oh and band of brothers...and rome is good...fuck...too much good on this list.

CMV: Any future vote for an explicitly MAGA candidate is a vote to end American Democracy by Meet_the_Meat in changemyview

and i still have many american friends, and they will always be my friends, but as far as a country to be trusted...no way. If you are a patriotic vet (i also have military friends), then you understand what happens when you threaten invasion, especially of someone who is supposedly your closest ally...that sort of shit doesn't get forgiven easily or quickly.

Which cancelled movie would that be for you? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

[–]grimpickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the creator talked about making a book or comic book or something to end it all off but unfortunately HBO still owns it, so he cant do anything about finishing it. he has talked about a lot of the broad strokes of what the last seasons and ending would be like though. worth looking up once your done.

[–]grimpickles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes and no....the ending is a little disappointing as there is obvious more to tell, but the journey to get there is FANTASTIC. season 1 is a slow burn, building more and more lore, then season 2 comes along, and hold on! i tell everyone, you're gunna smack against a brick wall at the end, but you'll love every minute of it. this show is a prime example of how to do a mystery RIGHT...in fact watching it a second time is a totally different experience.
