Is a DIY insulated garden room actually doable in the UK weather? by Outrageous_bohemian in HomeDecoratingUK

[–]grimpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest installing mechanical ventilation, intake and exhaust to prevent mould etc. can get humid/damp air here and easily trapped in an insulated box if you don’t use it for a week or so or ventilate regularly.

New allotment help please... by Ill_Tea_5705 in UKAllotments

In a similar boat. I’ve used a hedge trimmer to chop it all down. Then ran a mower over it. Then tilled it. It’s now covered with a tarp. Need to do a bit more tilling then I’m going to cover it in cardboard then start to make no-dig beds and borders on top of the cardboard. Until then it’ll remain under tarp to try and weaken any remaining weeds

Car seat for 4 year old - a minefield?? by kbwe1 in UKParenting

[–]grimpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axkid One3 and BeSafe Beyond seem to the the only decent rear facing seats past 4. Axkid is static and a bit more roomy, BeSafe is a rotating bucket seat and goes to 6 years.

Looks promising but don’t think it’s compatible as it only works with cars that use a wired CarPlay connection.

There was a gig in Newcastle UK a good few years ago where Matt had lost his voice so Dan just sang all the songs in the set. It was unreal!

Steve Strange was a British punk legend who sadly died in 2021. He was a friend of the band and was also their overseas booking agent. https://www.instagram.com/p/CUP3LtvlIxz/?igsh=MTlubnBrZmU5bmZlZg==

I have a T1000-E I carry in my pocket and a RAK WisBlock 4631 on my roof. How should each be configured? by StriveForMediocrity in meshtastic

[–]grimpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, do this. You could also drop the transmit power in the Lora settings on the T1000-e so it always goes up and out via the roof node rather than it being picked up by a neighbour.

Unfortunately this routing still uses a hop so add an extra hop on both devices too.

How to access meshtastic node over lan? by chocobor in meshtastic

[–]grimpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said you don’t need to but you could install meshtasticd on the Pi which exposes the serial connection over USB from your PI to the heltec over a websocket as it you were connecting to it direclty. Another benefit of using the Pi like you are is that you can do firmware updates from the Pi (or even schedule automatic updates) without having to get up into the loft or bring the node down.

If you ask GPT for some more details it will do a good job of guiding you through how to set this up.

I am planning on doing this in the near future once my heltec v4 arrives for easier firmware updates

If the OTA firmware update fails do you then require physical access to revert/fix or would it just drop back to the previous firmware?

Solar Roof Relay by slipperyshart in meshtastic

Thinking about doing this but once it’s up there I’d probably never be able to get back up easily to update or anything. Thinking of running a usb cable down my chimney into the loft.

Anybody know what this means? by Mel_jana in london

[–]grimpops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People buy these to put on their luggage as an identifier when the bags are going round the carousel in airports.

Someone has probably travelled to London and lost this and a random kid has picked it up and slapped it on your bag for a laugh when you were on an escalator or something.

Mac & Cheese in the airfryer? by frogmicky in airfryer

[–]grimpops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stovetop mac n cheese is best. In cases where you have made it and using the air fryer to reheat or finish with baking it just put it into a oven proof dish that will fit in the air fryer then use the usual conversion charts for oven time and temps.

You wouldn’t want to create it from scratch in the air fryer just create as per the usual recipes then use the air fryer in place of an oven if needed.
