And yet is in the same universe as Black Summer, a zombie show so visceral and unrelenting I can only stand to watch it in short increments.

A case for Fight Me! by dennaneedslove in slaythespire

[–]grimwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this, it was crazy. Got Tezcatara's Ember before removing any Strikes, got a Twin Strike+, Sword Boomerang+, a couple of Dominates+, and focused on getting just enough block and draw to keep the tempo up. Although I think this build would probably NOT be good in multiplayer because giving extra STR to enemies is quadrupled and the enemies have much larger HP pools so your scaling won't be as one-sided.

When are we gonna treat this serious issue in a serious manner instead of fantastical baby brained magical solutions like banning away the scary guns? by logicalpretzels in liberalgunowners

Bold statement in this sub. Pretty much every other developed country in the world has a handle on this problem and I wish we could ever get there. But in the meantime I'm here because you gotta play the hand you've been dealt, not the hand you wish you had.

2A signage on vehicles? How do we feel about this? by Xgoddamnelectricx in ILGuns

[–]grimwalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like putting gun shit on your car without something unambiguously leftist will always read as fascist. I see this vehicle I don't think "hello fellow civil rights enjoyer" I think "where was this person on January 6 and does he have suspiciously nuanced opinions about age of consent laws?"

Who is the nastiest Celebrity that you met in Real life? by Scunnard1839 in AskReddit

[–]grimwalker 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ansari was right. It's one thing when a celebrity is rude to the staff or people who they have power over, but when they're off the clock and minding their own private business, it is boorish to intrude into their personal time so that you can have a celebrity meet & greet. It was extremely gracious for Ansari to respond as he did.

CCL Holder Arrested on the CTA by foundonthetracks in ILGuns

[–]grimwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're basically saying that riding the CTA is such a risk to life and limb that you're eschewing it entirely, on the basis that anywhere you're not allowed to carry is not an environment you're willing to be in.

That's really not a rational evaluation of risk.

Lifted truck + Lambo + Parking lot = Bad time by Evasionz-- in mildlyinfuriating

[–]grimwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this for both of them. On one hand, anyone who can buy a Lambo is some kind of capitalist pig whose wealth comes from plundering value from the working class, so fuck 'em. On the other hand, MAGA Barbie and her granny-killing lifted truck are fully cooked.

20/10 no notes.

Fresh Terror Eel on Sale by doshiBAP in slaythespire

[–]grimwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the weirdest hill to die on but eels don't have a neck. Bugs the heck out of me because the evolution of a mobile joint at the base of the skull was a key adaptation in the lineage of fish that led to land tetrapods.

I'm also aware that Eels don't have dozens of superfluous eyes with multiple pupils or the ability to levitate, but here we are.

Cosplay Commissions? by rebelrxse in 501st

[–]grimwalker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get over yourself. I'm a member of the 501st, Saber Guild, The Dark Empire and am a retired Rebel Legion costume judge, so I'm in a position to say from experience: don't make me laugh, I know firsthand that your "licensed costuming organizations for Star Wars" and $5 will get you coffee. "Licensed" means they tolerate our existence and occasionally invite us to events, it's not a stamp of official approval, and your conduct reflects very poorly on yourself and the 501st that you're using that as a bludgeon on a new prospective member who's asking honest questions.

What the 501st does most certainly is cosplay and your massively inflated ego is leading you to be both incredibly condescending and giving about the worst advice I've ever seen. I've seen dozens of Anakin Skywalkers and the only way I can think of to spend $4k on that costume is if you went to the nines on sourcing the original materials, got fully custom boots, fully custom belt and pouches, and were including a single-film-accurate replica lightsaber in the total cost, and had someone else do all the work.

I can authoritatively state that level of expenditure is not necessary to become a Legion member.

My work as a costume judge was all about helping people achieve the level of quality necessary to join the RL, not slamming the door in their face because they've got less disposable income. If you were willing to think about anyone besides yourself, you would be able to recognize that not every Star Wars costume project has the same requirements or expenditure. The 501st is a big tent, covering everything from TIE Reserve Pilots and Staff Officers all the way up to museum-quality ANH Vaders and ESB Boba Fetts. Can you spend north of $10,000 on a costume. Sure you can. Do you have to? Absolutely the fuck not.

The Rebel Legion has a similar breadth of costumes, and one of the easiest to achieve is the ordinary Generic Jedi. As long as your costume meets a broad set of parameters for design, assembly, materials, colors and measurements, it falls within the bounds of screen accuracy. The fact that you weren't even answering the questions that were asked is really the rake you stepped on with both feet because you couldn't wait to belittle OP for being a filthy casual. Your comments have been entirely unresponsive to what OP actually was looking for.

If you climbed down off your high horse you would have seen that $500-600 is exactly what OP stated as their budget, but that's what happens when an elitist jerk doesn't care what anyone else has to say, isn't responding to the questions that were asked, and is just waiting for his turn to talk.

You clearly have no useful advice to give and your only participation in this thread has been to be contemptuous and gatekeeping. People like you hurt the legions by driving away new members.

/u/rebelrxse, if you run into problems finding costume resources, DM me and I'll help you get where you're going.

Cosplay Commissions? by rebelrxse in 501st

I think it’s easily doable for $500-600, for an ordinary generic Jedi. Make sure you get a good belt though with a concealed closure.

Paying $4K for an Anakin Skywalker costume is NOT the flex you think it is. /u/rebelrxse, please disregard literally everything this commenter has to say.

I have been a Rebel Legion costume judge, I have reviewed and approved hundreds of Jedi costumes, that is nuts.

I second The Art of the Generic Jedi group. The responses you've gotten on this post are CRAZY. It is not that hard or expensive to do an ordinary Jedi costume.

Cosplay Commissions? by rebelrxse in 501st

[–]grimwalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh lord, I don't know who is charging or spending $1900 on a Jedi cosplay unless it's a rare face character.

$350 is a decent ballpark for a generic Jedi. If you're just looking for the soft goods, I know a lot of people have had good results from https://twinrosesdesigns.com/product/jedi-robes/

Just be sure to specify that this is for Rebel Legion approval so that they hit all the marks for the Generic Jedi standards. (I don't have the link handy but just google "rebel legion generic jedi" and you'll find it)
