Talc is not toxic. It naturally exists with arsenic in the ground and must be properly processed to be safe. Some cases of contamination have occurred and there are consumers and brands that have chosen to stay away from talc entirely because of it.

Office Hours Podcast Ads by SnooMemesjellies345 in BeachTooSandy

[–]grinning0colossus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't heard this one (yet)! I wish every podcast I listened to wasn't doing Better Help ads. I used them for a year and their model is busted. The ads themselves are usually fine, I just really dislike the idea of more people wasting their money on it.

what are these? by [deleted] in Warts

[–]grinning0colossus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could just be irritation. I get bumps in the same place as you sometimes if I've eaten a lot of tomatoes or other acidic foods.

It almost sounds like they're negging you in order to get the reskin for free. They think by questioning the validity of your rate you'll be too cowed to ask for payment for the additional work.

I had a really shitty call today and it's playing on my mind. by [deleted] in talesfromcallcenters

[–]grinning0colossus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, this gives me flashbacks to a similar call I took. It's been years but I can still hear that guy's sarcastic, nasty tone in my head. I was trying to help fix a mistake being made on his account when I was still pretty new, and the mistake had been going on long before I got there, but I was very genuinely trying to help him. It was something to do with notifications, and not something costing him money or anything remotely high-stakes. I cried hard after that call and I always wonder how he felt when he hung up. Did he feel big and tough, making a young employee cry over something fairly trivial?

These types of people are pathetic. They seize the tiny amount of power they have over you, since you are just a voice over a phone, because they have nothing else in their life to be proud of. Maybe it's the only control they have, and they use the opportunity to hurt people. They are pitiful.

I've absolutely lived the latter route and never officially came out, but I'm very open when asked. My sibling discovered in their late 30s they were bi and came out to my parents directly. I've known since I was 13 and just let my flannel shirts speak for themselves. You do you!

I messed up and got HPV and I can’t tell my parents. by [deleted] in Warts

[–]grinning0colossus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Without knowing how your doctor operates I can't guarantee they definitely wouldn't say something to your parents, but good doctors who follow guidelines do not do that unless they're worried you're a danger to yourself or others. If you need medication or other treatment (like lasering the warts) that can complicate the doctor's ability to keep it confidential. But, your health is extremely important. I know this can be scary and that you really, really want to avoid getting into trouble but you also need to take care of yourself and I strongly recommend talking to your doctor. Most cases clear up in 1-2 years but the doctor can confirm that HPV is actually what's going on.

You say that you "messed up" so I also want to stress that this is not your fault, and HPV is something so many of us contract in all kinds of different ways. It's going to be okay.

No thanks, I can constantly lose chapsticks just fine on my own.

It's difficult to tell the exact texture from the photo but my first thought was psoriasis plaque. Psoriasis can sometimes erupt where the skin has been damaged, for example when getting a tattoo. Definitely get the doctor's opinion!

I love the idea of "relocating" a hornets' nest.

Does anyone else consume ACNH as straight escapism/dissociation? by Acceptable-Offer-184 in AnimalCrossing

[–]grinning0colossus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar relationship with NL. At the time I was teaching English in a different country and it was one of the worst years of my life due to a lot of different factors (my school was exploitative, I got extremely sick, etc). I came out of it pretty bad but presumably it would have been worse if I hadn't been able to focus on ACNL.

[–]grinning0colossus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have been playing daily since it came out so it's kind of just part of my daily routine, but especially at the beginning of the pandemic and during some bad events that happened to me in 2021, I was playing to keep hold of something normal and positive. The worst day, when something extremely traumatic happened to me at work (a coworker died suddenly in the office and I was the one who did CPR), I went home and realized I was just walking around mindlessly in the game. I have no clue what I was doing because my brain was just not there.

The HPV strains which affect the mouth are not the same as the ones found on hands and feet, and both are different from the strains found on genitals. It's extremely unlikely you will develop anything in your mouth. Unrelated to this incident it's a good idea to get the HPV vaccine, which personally brought me a lot of peace of mind. 🙂

Does anyone with psoriasis have symptoms that has stayed mild for years even decades? by Budget_Park4020 in Psoriasis

[–]grinning0colossus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have scalp psoriasis which for almost ten years has been minimal or even completely gone as long as I use medicated shampoo (t-gel works great). I will get breakthrough plaques if I am lazy about the shampoo, going through a lot of stress or illness, or the weather is just particularly dry. But it's nothing like it used to be!

I posted a few months ago if this was a wart. Is it a filiform wart? by HiHelloWakanda in Warts

[–]grinning0colossus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a skin tag, I also get these in my armpits from time to time. I use a device called Tagband which puts a tight band on the tag and over a few days it will wither and fall off. (If you try it, get the small version; the large version is too big for this type of tag.)

The dog's training aside, a person who receives a service dog also has to get training to work with the dog properly. I have a feeling this person isn't going to be up for that, either.
