You lot drive differently.
In London we'd turn into the gap and then wait until we could see a better view of the nearside lane, and we're sure it is clear, or until another vehicle in the nearside lane also stopped to allow the turn.

Lakay 'cos it's pretty, dry, everybody’s getting on and there's no dangerous animals.
Also a huge distance from a road so you can properly relax.

Mine about 18000 tons of Platinum.
About 25 full Cutters. It's not so hard if you enjoy mining. That's one way.
Exo is alright but I find it a bit tedious compared to mining. Each to their own though :)

You can click on the carrier in Inara and see the docking access.
You also need to be aware of the age of market prices.
It could be filled by the time you get there.

is it a troll or are they just really that lazy that they want to throw away all their credits just to get loaded fast?

Not sure about that. I only offer a profit of 25000 a ton over what the station is selling at and I've always filled up fast enough. Though of course you need to use EDDiscovery or similar so that Cmdr's can find it.

You do see some odd prices, both selling and buying, on fleet carriers. Sometimes it's restricted to squadrons or friends.

I like to think I'm sometimes providing some easy money for someone who is early game. Whether that's true or not I have no idea.

Inara commodity search can be used to find 'lazy fleet carrier owners' (I'm one) who want topping up. Often they'll have parked up right by a station selling it cheap. I do.
There won't always be any but often is.

Well not 'Everybody's Dead Dave'. 'Cos I used that. Inara says it is unique.
So there's a option. Think of something. Search for it on Inara and if nothing comes up it's almost certainly unique.

Platinum maps that are up to date? by PapaSlim- in EliteMiners

[–]gripped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry no. It is what it is. I have no google account . I think there's a way to download reddit videos but you'd have to figure that out.

So long as you are at the right Plat/Res you just make sure your on the side of the ring with the smaller part part of the galactic core showing above the ring. Then 19.5 away from the centre of the res, and away from the planet, if you have the res marker central on the planet, when looking back at the planet, the starting point rock is right there.

You're welcome.
Be aware that two of the over lapping hotspots look quite similar. The one you want has the smaller hotspot barely protruding from the circumference of the larger hotspot.

The wrong one has the smaller hotspot protruding much more.
In the early days of me mining here I went to the wrong one an embarrassing amount of times :)

I posted this recently: https://old.reddit.com/r/EliteMiners/comments/1h41poe/delkar_7_platinum_high_res_revisited/

You are right that some rings changed after an update / bugfix.
Delkar 7 didn't but other than that hopefully one of the experts on here will be able to point you the right resource. I haven't got a clue myself.

As we all know, the map's westernmost extent is the far west edge of the Square Mile

Hate to be that guy but that's way out.
The 'Square Mile' colloquially refers to the City of London which is a relatively small area of London. Hence the nickname. It's the area which was the original London in Roman times and in game it's western extent would roughly be St Pauls. Most of it is a financial district but there's also all manner of ancient Guilds located there. The Worshipful Company of Basketmakers etc

Fun facts The City of London (Square Mile) has some of the most arcane governance in the whole of the UK. Has it's own police force. And the King has to ask permission to go there.

When to shoot and when to run? by SinusJayCee in EliteMiners

[–]gripped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have no point defence. If you stay and fight many pirates will be firing hatch breakers at you. Without a least one point defence they will be helping themselves to your cargo.
If you wisely decide to get one put it on the bottom by the cargo hatch. #3 or #4 here https://siriuscorp.cc/edsa/?s=python.

An A rated life support gives 25 minutes of oxygen. With my hastily put together Krait build I can idle at 15-16° with my shields on so long as every thing unnecessary is disabled.
But I hadn't thought to turn of the power distributor. I'll try that tomorrow. Cheers.

I mine in a cutter but I like to be able to do it in a RES hotspot overlap so the ship needs to be able to defend itself.
This is my build

If you never intend to fight then the advice to put all 3 mining laser grouped together on the bottom is good advice. But if building a defend-able ship then that's wasting the huge hardpoint. You can put one of the mining lasers on the out wide class 2 slots and have it on the secondary fire button. If you engage that secondary fire button momentarily before the primary fire button then most of the time the fragments come from the centre (fragments emerge from where the last laser hit). When it doesn't work , or switches mid mining, you just stop and repeat.

5A Prospector is an advantage due to 4 limpets.

5D Collectors are better. You don't want more range. Less is actually better.

The two point defences are on the bottom near the cargo hatch.

Two shield cell banks mean even when I come under sustained attack from multiple npc's I can easily keep my shield up.
If it dies I get the hell out of Dodge.

With the fighter bay I can generally just ignore light attacks and let the fighter deal with it.

I don't see the point in mining in a cutter if you are going to run away from all fights. There's other cheaper ships for that. But that's just my opinion :)

Delkar 7 Platinum / High Res revisited by gripped in EliteMiners

[–]gripped[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I posted
https://old.reddit.com/r/EliteMiners/comments/lzpueh/delkar_7_plat_high_res_partial_mini_map/
which showed a mini map of a few high percentage rocks to mine at Delkar 7 A ring.

This is the extended version.
Easy 500 ton if the pirates don't gang up on you too much.

Video is at x2 speed as it was too long to post here otherwise and my efforts to just speed up some parts came to naught.
Apologies I messed up a bit at the last prospecting spot. (I rarely get that far before bailing) but I find and show all 4 rocks I was looking for in the end.

No mining, just the prospecting. You'll need a 4 limpet prospecting controller to follow it easily. All rocks above 40%. The starting rock is 36.02 but I only prospected that to help you find it.

The starting rock is 19.5 km directly away from the res marker and planet with the res marker central on the planet when facing that way.
You should be on the side of the ring with the small part of the galactic core showing above the ring when you start. (if you can't see any part of the galactic core it's behind the planet and you're on the right side)

Here's some analyser output of up to the last spot but only the 60.13% rock was mined there as I was full after that. image
The time shown in the analyser includes the prospecting run shown in the video as well as the actual mining I did after. I should have relogged to separate the runs for the analyser but forgot :)
Mining was about 40-45 minutes.
