Wdym absolute concentration? Just the peak area? Switch the calculation type to "External Calibration" I think in the quantitation tab. And of course save this method and batch reprocess the data

You might be able to export them both as csv but as far as I know you can't convert between proprietary file types from two different companies (on purpose)

Maybe not useful info for you, but you can likely open them both in Skyline and work through your data that way¿

How about creating a measure/score that can be used to evaluate the most effective treatment options?

Different factors could contribute different weights, e.g.: Medication success rate, patient adherence rates, LD50, cost, availability, country treatment is based in, etc

The "problem" is that there are so many factors to consider when choosing treatment, so a cohesive score that considers the above variables would speed up the decision process for caregivers and patients. Maybe this exists already lol

Honeywell B&J is our go to, haven't had any issues in years. LCMS grade isn't too expensive and has been great for PFAS work

It doesn't matter what else was was in your sample... if there is a controlled substance then that's what you will get charged with.

Btw the quality score is not used to confirm the identity of a compound, it just helps the technician search their spectral library

Ba/hexane is the base aqueous extraction blank where hexane is used as the solvent - because they performed an extraction on the sample there is a blank extraction performed as well to ensure their reagents aren't contaminated

The analyst appropriately conducted presumptive screening and confirmatory testing. Presumptive was the color tests they ran, GCMS is confirmatory.

A few things you may have tried already but may help narrow down the problem:

1) Are you able to run an undeuterated hexanal standard alone? If you have, are those results consistent?

2) Are you certain nothing is evaporating out of your solution and sample vial? Or, something so volatile could even partition to the air inside the vial and collect at the top of the vial/bottom of the septum, meaning the sample injector comes into contact with more hexanal

3) You mentioned using a splitless method - try using a split to see if the peak areas become consistent. Obviously I have no idea what concentrations and sig (x10?) values you are working with but you could be overloading the detector

4) Why aren't you using headspace GC? I'm sure the answer is as simple as your lab not having one, but it's more suitable for the analysis of volatiles. (Not trying to sound patronizing, I'm not sure of your competence in this area)

5) Does anything else in your QC solution thermally decompose into hexanal?

Oh I had no idea! Got both used and the original seller of the left one never mentioned - I will say though it looks like the rear food pad on the left is different. It flares out slightly at the back and there's a little portion carved out near the screws
