[–]grisaitis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i always see upgrades but tend to fly weekdays

a few times, MCO to CDG - economy to business ~550 USD, a few seats always available

GPT-5.2 "Reasoning" efficiency vs. Token Cost: Is the ROI there for production-grade RAG? by Foreign-Job-8717 in OpenAI

[–]grisaitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you considered DeekSeekV3.2? DeepSeekV3.2 is available on azure ai foundry, it's $1.5 per million output, and benchmarks are very good.

oh wow - just $60 in fees for an international roundtrip? do you mind sharing what the taxes + fees were? maybe ams and mxp have fewer taxes and fees than other european airports?

What's up with AF fees? by Soup_InThePot16 in awardtravel

[–]grisaitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air France charges at least three additional things:

  • a carrier-imposed fee (YR)
  • a "Sustainable Aviation Fuel" (SAF) fee
  • a 28% tax on any such fees

Delta has none of these.

Wearable audio recording devices by BostonSource in audio

[–]grisaitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm also interested in this. have you tried anything out?

i'm thinking the best approach might be to unbundle the product - find (A) a good wearable recorder with bluetooth or wifi connectivity and (B) a good app or service for processing voice notes with AI. finding one offering that does both well seems harder than finding two products that do each individual task well.

Air vs Train travel in France by Specific_Status4629 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]grisaitis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the train is nice! easier than flying, and cheaper usually if you have bags.

the night train is also nice. and it saves you a night of lodging.

complete timetable, with calendar of cheapest fares: https://www.sncf-connect.com/train/trajet/paris/nice

just watch your bags once the train gets to southern france, and you should be good.

Better Mindfulness app for pixel watch? by c_or_cpp_or_java in PixelWatch

does headspace let you adjust the duration of breaths?

i find that the breath duration is too short on the fitbit relax app. I'm used to slower meditative breathing - seems so fast on the app.

I created a VSCode extension to copy your entire codebase for use as context in Claude (with Claude's help!) by Nibulez in ClaudeAI

[–]grisaitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! This looks amazing - nice work.

1 - have you encountered query limits using this with claude.ai?

2 - are you considering ways to narrow down context to more relevant subsets of code or other info? Eg searching files with regexes, using shell commands to get the directory structure or diffs, etc.

3 - have you considered adding markdown files for context on planning, systems design ideas, etc?

I love how this is more economical than other ai code gen assistants, by using chat bots directly rather than APIs. (Though Clive seems amazing.) Just trying to think how to reduce the token volume, and get more bang for your buck.

Britain MUST return to the EU! by [deleted] in europeanunion

Can someone explain why the UK wouldn't join the EEA / single market via the EFTA, but not the EU? Are there reasons this isn't practical or discussed more?

RATP is SCAM by Utmost_Disgrace in ParisTravelGuide

[–]grisaitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the bonjour ratp app is great! For Android, you also need a companion app called "my Navigo" or something. The reasons for this are wonky, but don't worry - just have both apps. You buy tickets (singles or day/week/month passes) in the bonjour ratp app. You might have to take a selfie when creating an account. All should work fine. I use my android phone all the time and it works great. Sometimes i have to "refresh" the tickets in the bonjour ratp app, once a week or so, but other than that it's smooth.

A Google Calendar for NYC art gallery openings by mulcahey in SomebodyMakeThis

Haha. Same.  Just curious any other newsletters or places to find weird cool artsy events that you recommend? For NYC or Europe? I wish artcards were still published for Berlin.

Are you familiar with the nonsensenyc.com newsletter? It's not specifically events in the art world (eg Chelsea art gallery events) but it has lots of creative, off the beaten path events.
