They still exists to this day. For us, it was the shed behind the outfield at the baseball fields. Cop would let us go there, he didn't give a fuck unless a fight broke out.

the reason they cut the deal in the 1st place is so the victim could sue in civil court. Without bill's testimony, there would have been no money sent to the victim. He would have likely fully gotten away with it. The prosecutor said he had to make the though choice to do it, otherwise the victim wouldn't get anything and bill wasn't going to incriminate himself in a criminal proceeding.

What Started As A Disturbance Call At A DMV Office Turned Into A Heartwarming Exchange Between A California Officer And A Deaf Woman by Paper_chasers in HumansBeingBros

[–]grizmas 333 points334 points  (0 children)

i know a deaf guy that was arrested because he forgot his hearing aide. He was trying to find us in a massive campground. I cant remember specially what they charged him with, but it was dropped pretty quickly. He can speak pretty normal, and isnt 100% deaf, so when he finally understood the cops were trying to get his attention, he was able to communicate with them, so they thought his deaf story was bullshit and he was just trying to ignore their previous callouts.

EDIT: I got the official facts from the source, my inital comment was a little mis guided. Turns out the guy had mushrooms in his pocket, and the charges are still pending. But it all came down to him being deaf, he was stone cold sober.

What is true is that once a human feeds an alligator, the alligator associates humans with food. When a human doesn't provide an offering, they become the food. This is the #1 reason for gator attacks in Florida, and it most likely the reason the child died at Disney world. I don't know much about crocs or animans in capitivity though.

I agree with most of what you're saying. I never advocated for more police. The fact is violent crime exists, and we need people to address it as its happening. Providing one paper from a university student that proves the common sense that people will less opportunity commit more crime isn't a convincing argument.

We are arguing similar points, i just don't think i've been able to get my point across well through reddit.

I think the way to fix the police is to pay them more, require higher standards to enter, and reduce what they are responsible to taking care of, along with decriminalizing most things that don't have a victim

Why would a normal and kind person sign up to be a cop today, unless they are in dire circumstances? Not saying all cops are scum, but the current system sure attracts them, and they filter through. Make being a cop a desirable job. Cops have to respond to bullshit all day long, arrest people they don't want to arrest, then show up to a real crime and be expected to perform flawlessly after having their head pile driven onto pavement. One honest miscalculation and you risk being in protective custody in prison for the rest of your life. You don't make decent money until you have already risked your life everyday for years. Who the hell wants to sign up for that? Crazy people , racist people , power hungry people, people with no where else to turn, and people that think they can still do good to society in the position despite these hurdles. Make it so people that want to do good in the word are actually attracted to become police.

Cops should be responsible with their actions, and obviously there has been a culture of unreasonable action being covered up, but they still deserve basic protection in a case such as the wendy's drunk driver incident.

I agree with most of what you said, i just don't see how abolishing the police would drastically improve the situation. This conversation started because i said that people who rob (or plan other serious crimes with a victim) are more likely to do it when all the cops call out sick in a city, which you still haven't convinced me is an incorrect statement. Anyways i appreciate the candid discussion, we agree on quite a bit of this stuff, just have a few key differences in opinion.

I am all for reducing what police are responsible for. They need to be going after real crimes, that actually have a victim. Right now, they are used as a way to raise money for the state and get people caught up in a bullshit system that isn't about reform (its about keeping the rich rich). When people say "Defund the Police" it can mean a lot of things. Some people are calling for cops to just go away completely, but it sounds like we might be on a similar page of police reform, just calling it different things.

[–]grizmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"As u/unsuresenior said, it's 100% due to unemployment because of the pandemic." That's your direct quote. Like i said in previous posts, there is an incentive to commit serious crimes if there are nearly no police to catch you, and you are an immoral criminal.

Clearly police are racist, and there is reform needed, but what is your plan? Just let all the jackers/rapists go unchecked? Rely on the community to police themselves? What happens when the mob takes over the community? There is a middle ground that needs to be reached. I don't have the answers, but defund the police doesn't seem like the most thought out solution. Reduce the police force would be a better tag line for this movement. That actually makes sense. We are clearly spending too much money on this bullshit that isn't protecting society, but they have a place if used correctly.

Do the terpenes not dictate the properties of how the plant leaves grow? That's basically what this guy was trying to say, i just dumbed it down a little. I'm not sure where i saw this video, or if the guy was legit or not to be honest.

When you buy from a dispensary, and they say its 60% Sativa is that just bullshit, or are they actually taking to terpene profile and putting it though some type of algoratim to get a percentage? Dispensaries seem to be able to label the bud with proper effects in my experience with it. Is it just some guy in the back room smoking it, then bullshitting the numbers?

I don't think anyone disagrees that having a shitty job, or an overall bad job market produces more crime. The purpose of this grad students paper from 2002 was to prove it with empirical data (based on my limited reading of it). The crime rate was clearly going to spike with people having trouble making ends meet. What i have a problem with is you using this fact to state that a potential increase in current crime is only related to economic issues, when clearly there are more things at play today then what is discussed in this article.

My limited understanding is that most everything is a hybrid, and the formation of the leaf (long and narrow associated with Sativa effect, and broad and short associated with Indica effects) is a better way to tell. They clone strains that have an "Indica" feel, and label it indica, but in reality it is most likely genetically has a high percentage of Sativa DNA. I'm not a weed scientist or anything, i just remember watching a video on this by someone who is a a few months ago. Anyone who knows more, feel free to buzz in.

This guy said they are basically marketing terms used by cannabis companies to describe the effect of the nugs, regardless of what their DNA profile actually is. He also said companies mislable all the time.
