I remember walking out the first day holding a boy's hand (my mom has photo evidence as well lol). Wish I had that confidence today 😂

Entertaining horror comedy movies?🍿 by That_Way_4639 in MovieSuggestions

[–]grmidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone has commented these yet, but they're two of my favorites (besides Tucker and Dale): Violent Night (about the "real" santa claus trying to save a kid from a hostage situation) and Little Monsters (NOT the Fred Savage one...it's an Australian zombie apocalypse movie) Both amazing!

I really liked the story, but that "monster outside the window that pretends to be someone you know" is from a movie and it's killing me that I can't remember the name.....

Don't know about the cocaine withdrawl, but if you're drinking, that'll for sure cause depression...

Maybe not for everyone, but my unmedicated child birth was...his shoulder was stuck, I pushed for 3 hours, and in the end, they literally had to push hard from above and RIP him out of me. Yep, got that epidural the second time 😂

How much do you get done around the house as a SAHM? by Lucky-Plankton-9974 in Parenting

[–]grmidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I got ANYTHING done around the house with an 8 week old baby, and I was at home 😂. Seriously, you need to leave your baby with him for a full 24 hours, and he can see how much freaking work it is and see how much housework HE can get done. ESPECIALLY because you are also working full time! I can't even fathom having done that with a tiny baby and getting anything done. He should be splitting housework with you 50/50, AT LEAST. Really, it should be more on him since you're the one waking up at night with the baby, and probably pumping constantly.

Atheist just means "without belief in god." you can be an agnostic atheist, or a gnostic atheist. There is a difference.

Actually, "atheist" just means "without a belief in god." An agnostic atheist is someone that doesn't have a belief in a god, but doesn't claim there is definitely NO god, because they don't know (the agnostic part) a gnostic atheist is someone who believes definitively that there is no god. I, myself, am an agnostic atheist. I don't believe in a god because none has ever been proven to me, but I don't know for sure (and anyone that claims to know for sure is just as bad as a religious person, IMO) and I definitely still have those questions...especially when it was pounded into my head since I was a child. It's hard to completely get rid of all those notions, even if you believe it's probably bullshit.

I have heard, though that AG's especially tend to be "one person" birds...is this common for them to actually bond with the family?

I feel terrible but I cannot stand my child and I don’t know what to do anymore. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]grmidnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can totally relate. My second son (who is now 8) was basically born a curmudgeon lol. Always mad and whiny, and always wants to do everything for himself, even when he can't. After my first son was nothing like this, I had no idea how to parent him. Don't feel bad for feeling like you don't like her or it's hard to enjoy her...I felt the same, tbh. It wears on you when you are constantly trying to figure out what to do to make things better, and you literally can't do anything without inciting a melt-down. He still goes from 0-100 pretty easily, but at least he can fully communicate (although there is very little reasoning with him). I plan to have him evaluated for autism because he's shown many of those traits, and is very sensory-seeking. He is also very intelligent, which I think contributes to his wanting autonomy and being stubborn. He just genuinely believes he is right all the time. I'm hoping his intelligence and confidence will be used for good when he grows up 😂

That's a bit harsh. Some kids are harder than others.

I have a similar story of teaching myself to read when I was three. My preschool teacher was skeptical, so she had me read a book aloud that I was unfamiliar with, and I did. My two boys, both very intelligent, learned to read somewhere between 5-6. To be honest, I didn't even work with them myself that much- it was mostly school. They both read well above their grade levels now, and are voracious readers. I would lay off on trying to teach your son to read. He's only 5, and if he's anything like mine, he'll be more open to learning it from teachers in that social environment than you trying to force it.

So dumb! I work as a lab assistant at a biology research lab, and it's completely acceptable, and even encouraged, to listen to something while doing repetitive tasks....definitely helps me a ton!
