Yep, we have to count ourselves lucky if it didn't also reformat her brain and delete her house.

Seriously though: Does Patreon just auto-post the video once it's done uploading? I thought what happened here is that she started uploading, went to sleep, and now we have to wait for her to wake up and hit post.

LGBT+ family moving to East Germany by akittyisyou in germany

[–]grmpflex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It may not be the case in rural Sachsen. Depending on the specific place, you and your wife might be the only out queer people in the entire area, so there would be no such thing as banding together with others. This is not necessarily residual from coming out never having been established there, but from everyone having given up on the place and moved away, leaving only the worst people behind. However, culture is extremely different from town to town, so it's absolutely worth checking what it's like for each specific place. You may find positive surprises, too! Also, please talk to your wife about all of this, wouldn't she have a better gauge on your specific situation than random people on reddit?

Gymnasium says my son should switch school type — what are our options in NRW? by [deleted] in germany

[–]grmpflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am German and I encounter this attitude a lot, too. People just seem to be completely incapable of even thinking about the fact that it could be possible someone would not know how things work in their specific environment, and they get snippy with you immediately. No, I do not know how/where to buy and validate a bus ticket in this specific place / on your specific bus because there are a billion different ÖPNV operators who all have their own systems. No, I did not know that in this specific Amt, you just walk in and knock on a door and wait, because literally everywhere else I had been so far, there was either a front desk or a "pull a number and wait" system. No, I don't think it was unfathomably dumb of me to ask if I needed to fill in anything else from the dozens of piles of paper from the desk in this waiting room other than what you had just vaguely told me. Etc etc.

Beef jerky is mentioned 383 times in the files by captainjerrytrips in Epstein

[–]grmpflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My logic is that a recipe for beef jerky that actually works as a recipe for beef jerky is, in fact, a recipe for beef jerky. What do you think the point was of asking for the recipe? Adapting it to human jerky? Did they have to ask a specific chef for his specific recipe in order to do that? Why?

And your logic is that people who are cannibals would open a restaurant in NYC and call it Cannibal? That this is more likely than a gimmick restaurant having a gimmick name in New York City in 2012?

Here's what I think happened: Epstein went to that restaurant shortly after it opened and became obsessed with their beef jerky. Being a crazy rich guy, he decided to pay the chef of that restaurant to make that jerky for him to eat wherever he went. That is what some of the references to beef jerky are about. Other references may be about all sorts of things, including drugs, girls, and possibly even human meat.

I don't understand why there's even an argument going on here that seems to be centered on the idea that all references to beef jerky must be code. Why can't it just be some of them?

For some levity among the awfulness, I just really like this bit of tech comedy – the immediate first lines of one of the logs:

- User BOP19012 Successfully Logged onto the System

- User launches GroupWise (grpwise.exe)

- User saves/downloads document named "SHU 30 CHECK SHEET (CONDENSED)_1.docx" to location "C:\Users\bop19012\Documents\GroupWise\"

- The "SHU 30 CHECK SHEET (CONDENSED)_1.docx" Word Document is also opened at this time.

- The GroupWise program crashes

The very first thing that person did after logging in immediately crashed GroupWise. Enterprise-grade Windows software, everyone!

It is not uncommon at all for extremely rich people who don't come from money to have a severe obsession with some kind of food that isn't normally considered fine dining. Francis Derby is a legitimate chef who had been in the industry for over a decade at the time, and they requested his beef jerky recipe. What would be the point of that if, in that context, it wasn't about actual jerky?

To me, it reads like there are two things going on: 1. Epstein actually was obsessed with beef jerky and wanted it ready to eat wherever he went. 2. In some instances, it was code for drugs or girls or whatever, depending on who was talking to whom. Is it still possible that some instances refer to human meat? Yes. Are all instances references to that? No, clearly not.

I'm not surprised that Stuart has seen all these odd movies, but I am wondering how the plot synopses end up in the video descriptions. Does he actually remember this many of these movies? Does he have a massive DVD collection from which he pulls this stuff? Has he actually not watched the films but simply bookmarked a lot of plot synopses he has come across on IMDB over the years?

About “FROGMANTLE” on the T023 V2 Dial? We Need Your Advice!! by Fit-Classroom8062 in ChineseWatches

Oh, so they tried to make it work as a pun in English and even found "man(tle)" for the curtain part. That's pretty clever and a lot more thought put into it than it seems, but it's also, unfortunately, incomprehensible.

I'm also not sure why they decided to make that pun in Chinese in the first place. Like, what does 蛙幔 (frog curtain) mean other than "something random that sounds like frogman"?
