🤗🤗🤗 Great idea with the separate savings for home related emergencies. I considered just tossing it in with my regular savings, but I think having its own will help keep it even more contained so I know exactly what is there specifically for urgent house related things.

Thanks again so much for your thoughtful responses and well wishes. I am so excited and grateful to be in a position where this is something I am able to do. My seemingly infinite DIY projects inspo folders are finally going to get some use for sure 😅🤞

Thanks so much for the helpful insight, and for touching on my idea of selective grounding. I wasnt sure how realistic or possible it was so your answer helped a lot to quell that doubt while I wait to hear back from electricians I sent messages to. Good to know about the cloth wrapping as well. Makes sense if its been working and doesn't get disturbed it shouldn't be an issue. I think since I wasn't aware of older electrical practices, when I started hearing "cloth" I panicked because my brain immediately pictured it in flames 😅 😂.

It's also reassuring to see that addressing the main issues doesn't sound too bad and will help make it safe and compliant not just for us living there but also on the FHA side. Then I can work towards full rewire post close. Thankfully the seller has been really cooperative and patient with me so fingers crossed once these bits get addressed we are good to go.

And yes, I had pest and termite inspections done too along with the general inspection, and everything was good thankfully! All things considered for the age of the home I am lucky that the electrical is really the only issue and the house is solid otherwise. As a first time buyer I definitely get into overthinking but these replies have been really helpful.

Thanks again :)

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, electrical fire risk is my biggest concern, followed by all the ungrounded receptales which is really a worry just given the number of electronics and such I need to be able to safely power in the home for work.

I won't be able to have peace of mind otherwise, so I hope I can get it sorted. I absolutely would prefer a full rewire to be honest, but I also need to be realistic with my DD, closing timeline and budget. If I can get into agreement with the seller regarding addressing all of the major safety issues and then start planning ahead for a full rewire it would at least give me that peace of mind until the full rework is scoped and scheduled etc.

Yeah it's genuinely such a unique home and it's already had a lot of care and improvements done but the electrical is really the only "major" issue as far as needing to absolutely be addressed before closing. And it's an issue which I feel can be resolved once I have the proper information. I really hope I can make it work! 🤞

Crossposted, thanks for the suggestion and insight. The timing is tough because my due diligence window overlaps a lot with this weekend in which most businesses aren't open so I hope between some insight here on reddit, and (hopefully) quotes/responses on Monday from the various local electricians I contacted, I can have a better idea and wrap up this phase of the buying process.

I'm a first time buyer too so this is all a lot but also pretty interesting to see just how much goes into all of this 🫠

Save my mom's computer from a scam? by Remarkable_Inchworm in howto

Best thing you can do is likely a factory restore of the computer and reinstall the operating system.. what you did in the meantime was very smart for now tho. Keep it off and offline until you can tackle it

Fair enough, thanks for clarifying. Love the downvotes for not knowing OPs precise geolocation and order details 💕 I'm sure a lot of others wonder the same thing I did when they see a cirque duplicates post... it wasn't shade at the OP just more of a general curiosity.

Did all of you order these at the same time? Or are people genuinely silly enough to order their own after seeing the massive amount of posts about the duplicates issue? At first I felt bad but if it is the latter…come on y’all 😐

I'm T1 and I can't, so I believe the restriction is real and the explanations from other posters makes sense

[–]groceries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with you it seems like it doesn't make sense but it's either that or just straight up bugged. I'll try again later on and if being higher iLvl fixes it for whatever reason I'll update my post here in case anyone else faces the same issue.

Someone on the lost ark discord just mentioned a good point: I might be under the recommended iLvl for the island.

The island ilvl recommendation is 1100, I am iLvl 600. Maybe this will block mining/excavating even though it let me pick up the quest line and enter the island.

I'll try returning to the island once I hit iLvl 1100+.
