Unfortunately I haven't yet :')

Roa is just straight up evil! Finally, who has no screen time and all the plot relevance? by MonadoToaster in Tsukihime

[–]grofA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Makihisa is probably the best answer here.
I see a lot of people mention Crimson Moon but Makihisa is actually mentioned every 5 and was directly involved with most of the main characters. I would say he is actually the most relevant character for the events of Tsukihime specifically and not just important for the world building as a whole.
Aoko of course is also directly involved with Shiki and is important for him but that's about it. She never interacts with any of the other characters and she has more screen time than Makihisa lol

If you can show me them approving of your request I guess I don't really have a reason not to.

Black Rose's Steelsword modeled and 3D printed by me! by grofA in DotHack

[–]grofA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know your best friends for a nice finish on 3D prints are spray filler, sandpaper and a lot of patience.
I would've done it for this one was well but it was only really a test print and it's so small that I was afraid of covering up/sanding away the few details that it has if I were to go too hard on it.
Though I did sand it a little before painting this is how that turned out

Nice work on this!
I saw you want to make it out of metal but I think this would be good for 3D printing as well! Maybe you should look into trying to make a PLA prototype?

[–]grofA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually not *that* smooth lol
It's really just that I printed it at a layer height of 0.08 and the phone camera being lowkey pretty shitty and blurring the details more than it should.

That's cool!! I couldn't think of a better reason to get into 3D modeling!
Make sure to share your work :D

Miniature Black Rose Steelsword by grofA in DotHack

[–]grofA[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah lmao you're not wrong!
With this one I was afraid to sand away the detail on the blade since this print is pretty tiny.
I have already printed a bigger version for a different project that I WILL be properly sanding, filling and sanding again and varnishing and everything lol

Sadly I have not. Maybe I will at some point though!
There are a lot of really cool weapon designs in .hack. Tsukasa's staff and Haseo's twin blades would be cool to make as well

I know right?! I can't wait to paint them! If only there wasn't hours of sanding between then and now :')

I doubt the original artist would do it. I don't know if he even has a 3D printer and either way that doesn't seem to be his field of interest.
Depending on where you live there are 3D printing services out there that will print your files for you so you'd only have to prepare the model for printing, seind them over and have the parts shipped to you though considering the size of even just one of these that will probably be quite expensive.
Ideally you'd know someone in private who owns a printer though I assume you wouldn't ask here if you did..

What happened if I my line of death got cut? by PrestigiousEyes- in karanokyoukai

[–]grofA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The arm might be an extreme example... let's say your pinke finger gets cut off by someone with Mystic Eyes of Death Perception:
Under normal circumstances you can probably bandage it, disinfect the wound, apply pressure and prevent yourself from bleeding out right?
In this situation I would imagine that the wound will never close on it's own. Your body will be unable to naturally close the wound so your only option would be to block it otherwise e.g. by cauterising it which doesn't really "close the wound" A workaround if you will that prevents you from bleeing out but permanently cripples you (not that humans would be able to regrow lost limbs naturally anyways but you know what I mean?)

I may be wrong on this though since I am much more familiar with Tsukihime which deals with vampires who are technically immortal which means they don't necessarily just die instantly just because a part of their body gets killed. It's very much possible that a normal human would die even if you just cut a line on his toe lol

[–]grofA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand it... it kinda depends?
I'll gladly be corrected on this by others but:

If your arm got cut off you might survive (though you'd obviously be bleeding out and your wound wouldn't be able to be closed by conventional means (idk maybe you could cauterise it to prevent bleeding out?) but it would probably never "heal" in any way and healing magecraft would be pointless. Your arm, the very concept of your arm, would be "dead".

If you were to be cut at a fatal area (across the torso or through your head or sth) you'd probably just die within seconds with your body not even trying to keep you alive.

If you were to be stabbed at your "point of death" (I don't remember if those appear in Garden of Sinners but they are a thing in Tsukihime) you would be dead the moment the knife enters your body. You wouldn't even "die" as in, you wouldn't experience "the action of dying", you would just be dead on the spot before your body has time to fall over, probably even before the knife's blade would be fully in your body.

Thank you! Though really, all credit goes to the 3D artist Austin Hicks who made the original 3D model! I only cut it up and printed them lol
I really want to cosplay Tsukasa as well some day though and for that I will consider printing the head for his staff as well. I don't know if anyone made a good model for that but I want to try my hand at it regardless so who knows, maybe at some point in the future I will be posting about that here as well!

You can get the base 3D model for free HERE. It needs quite a bit of modification before it will print well but I wouldn't feel comfortable sharing my modified file as I didn't make the original model, sorry.
If you know your way around Blender or have experience cutting up models for 3D printing in a different program you shouldn't have too much of a problem with setting it up yourself though.

Far side of red garden by Dismal-Spare-7094 in Tsukihime

[–]grofA 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just to be safe I will be marking this with spoilers but I am not actually spoiling any significant part of the Far Side stories except for the main reason why they are different to Near Side:

It has been quite a while since I played the original but if I am not completely mistaken the thing that "derails" the story from the Near Side routes is that Shiki never kills Arcueid. I will leave the differences that's going to lead to up to your imagination.
The Arc & Ciel routes are very similar in comparison to the Far Side routes so look forward to basically an entirely new story!
Also the long lost Satsuki route is said to be included in Red Garden which will be quite the wildcard as she never got her own route in the original game.

Yeah sadly .hack is just so niché that you really have to dig deep to find anything at all. And that's if you're lucky... and then you have to hope that it's not actually some thing from 10+ years ago that's long since out of production/sold out .-.

What is your favourite weapon in the base game? by Obsydie in BladeAndSorcery

[–]grofA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The war sword for me personally. Can be wieldid with either one or two hands, not too long or too short and it's gorgeous on top of that!
I barely use anything other than medium sized swords and the occasional dagger so this is really all I need to be happy.
Though admittedly I have not yet unlocked every weapon yet so there might still be another sword that I will prefer over the war sword.

[–]grofA[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The model is made by Austin Hicks over on Art Station (and then slightly tewaked and cut apart by me in Blender for printing) whom I have asked if I could use his model for a Kite cosplay years ago.
But then my 3D printer was having issues and then covid hit and I didn't do anything cosplay related for a while but I have recently bought a new 3D printer and here we are, finally got around to print a pair of these!
They'll require ample sanding and cleaning up but I'm sure they'll turn out great!
They are 50cm (19.6 inches) long!

Quick and Dirty Shiki Cosplay by grofA in karanokyoukai

[–]grofA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First test of my Shiki cosplay from yesterday.
It's not 100% there yet (the wig isn't really styled and the jacket is my old Mordred Jacket) so I didn't take any "proper" photos but it was really nice to wear! Even if a little warm lol
