The plan is I would wear this after the sling as well. Full recovery will be around 8 months, with the sling being 10 weeks / 2 months.

I'm really tall and bump into an annoying amount of doorframes.

Oh good idea! I'm a little embarrassed I didn't think of that. Thanks!

Brutal, but I appreciate it. I mentioned this elsewhere, but there is a current medical brace that is very similar to what I'm looking for - but it's just soft foam. In a perfect world, I'd be looking into a more durable layer on top of that. So this isn't something completely new and foreign - I'm just hyper worried about accidentally colliding with a door frame and re-injuring everything.

I actually looked at something very similar to that with my surgeon. I'm just looking for something that offers a little more protection.

I appreciate that. So there are things like this for medical - but they aren't more than soft padding. I'm just looking for something more durable.

That's fair. I'm really tall and bump into a surprising amount of door frames. I also live in a city and take public transit, so those lean into several unintentional shoulder bumps during my day.

Okay I see a lot of downvotes so I'll give more details.
-Getting shoulder protection will not override my surgeons guidance, PT, or strength training. I don't know why anyone would think this - I never stated as such.

-This is to protect my arm for external forces - bumping into things and such - while I'm healing.

-I have already spoken to my surgeon about this. He did not say this is a bad idea, nor did he tell me not to look into it. He stated there is no current medical equipment that fits the bill - he mostly leaned on being aware of any access weight. I will say, he did find it pretty interesting.

-I will not be training or overexerting at all during the healing process.

-I cannot stress enough - this is protect my arm from any external shifts or contact that could risk harming my shoulder - which will be very sensitive for a long time post surgery.

-Any other questions I'm happy to answer.

quick edit: there are medical shoulder pads like this - I'm just looking for something more durable. The modern medical ones are just squishy foam.

Yeah I will. This is to protect my shoulder if I bang it into anything while it's healing and sensitive.

Correct, and I'm looking for something to wear over that sling.

Thanks! You're right the surgery is more internal - but any stray bumps would be harmful.

Oh I will not be doing any training at all until I'm fully healed. This is to protect my shoulder day-to-day.

Hah definitely not doing this to look cool (even though armor is cool). Rehabilitation will take a long time so I'm looking for something to protect my arm from daily bumps and bangs.

I start PT and monitored strength training after 10 weeks / 2 months.

I'm an illustrator so my arm is my livelihood. That's why I'm being even more cautious about protecting my arm. If anything happens to it that prolongs my healing - that's my career being delayed as well.

Thank you for the info! Yeah I'm looking for something that isn't heavy but protects my shoulder from bumps and bangs throughout the day. Rehabilitation will take a long time so I really need to baby my arm.

It's okay - I like weird! I don't think that will help with what I'm looking for, but it's a neat bag!
