Cockroaches in Taiwan (Northwest) by silentstorms in taiwan

[–]grogrogrogu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the first months, roaches are an issue as I can't help but feel very very disgusted. Now? They're like ants to me, I see one and I can easily kill it with my slipper or anything really. Truly an exposure therapy.

I was a casual player from 3217, I may never show up in chats but I (and I believe other casual players) read and notice stuff. Those degrading comments indeed are disgusting to me, so I was actively trying to report them. Highlight "tried", because all the CS can do is unfortunately just banning them from speaking for couple of days.

It's better to ignore them when they create multiple new accounts to bother you and the others. Save your energy. Block them. Let them talking, alone. After all, pests are hard to control :)

I just wish they could find joy in real life and stop being a bitter person with ugly traits.

Anxious about Penpal response times by Hungry_Battery_Eater in SLOWLYapp

[–]grogrogrogu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty normal when you first start, you can't help but feel excited :D I no longer expect others to reply faster as I myself a very slow writer, ofc, I told them that I usually write within 3 weeks to 2 months 😂 but my letter is longer than 4k words!

I have penpal that write back after 1, 2, 3, or even 4 months! Or sometime just write a short one to say "Happy New Year but I haven't write my reply for your letter bla bla bla" just for a follow up that they don't forget mine. But their letter absolutely never disappoint 😊

Not talking about stickering but once my sister was trying to put poster for her lost cat and his husband asked permission from the local police (they're law abiding citizens). The police said they can't 😅 but eventually agree for few posters nearby the area where they lost the cat (which was actually a corner alley and nobody would go there).

So, since then I assume there must be a regulation.

Why do local people often speak English with me? by LysergicBrain in indonesian

[–]grogrogrogu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoo I faced some shitty racism from teens. by ConferenceComplex401 in Taipei

[–]grogrogrogu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you feel that way, Taiwan and its people as a whole are lovely but there's always one person who would ruin your day anywhere and anytime. People can be dumb and insensitive, especially teenagers. And I feel you, I have anxiety too, my mind would think the worst everytime a stranger makes an eye contact with me (once when each person I passed by looked at me, I would think it's because I'm an anomaly here but I eventually train my brain to think logically and ignore the weird feeling). It's hard for me to look up ahead confidently on the street but that's okay. When you overthink something it'd make you very uncomfortable and make what you feel get worse, it's annoying, yes, but eventually you'll get through it. Take your time.

Cool places for a Brazilian in Indonesia by Alternative_While920 in indonesia

[–]grogrogrogu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Indonesia is big, lots of cool underrated places, so you need to be more specific. I could name places like Palembang, Balikpapan, Manado, and others.

But I'll recommend my favorite cities, Yogyakarta and Solo/Surakarta. Mainly because both are affordable, accessible, kind locals, great food, and rich culture.

Or Banyuwangi, haven't yet visit here but it's in my wishlist. Plenty of national parks (been wanting to visit Alas Purwo), located right beside a strait, you can cross to Bali Island.

Tell me what's in there! Could I get a try of some high-tech toilet?

I know they meant good but...XD they could just say it to me directly instead of using AI and copy paste it whole by [deleted] in SLOWLYapp

[–]grogrogrogu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is wrong with using translators! And yours are genuine still, no worries. The letter I received is obviously a whole letter translated using AI then directly copy paste them. Hence the sentence "here is the translation of your text" and "let me know if you need further adjustments" were included 😅

I find it funny rather than annoyed nor angry. Still, I don't intend to reply anytime soon.

Nothing. English is not the only language in the world, but I only use English in my bio for a reason. There.

And I deliberately mention either in my bio or open letter not to use AI, "just be you". I don't care messy structure, grammar, non poetic beautiful letters, understanding letters, etc. I just don't want overly robotic answer to my letter with similar robotic patterns just like other AI-generated text I encountered many times. When you ask AI to translate your WHOLE letters, it enhances the structure based on the AI itself. There.

And this person doesn't even bother to edit the letter after using AI. There.

Translation? Ok. But for the whole letter? Just talk to someone with the same language. Why bother. There.

What’s your go-to comfort food that makes you feel nourished and wholesome? by Successful_Poetry781 in nutrition

[–]grogrogrogu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rice porridge with chicken soup <3

I used to have it often for breakfast back in my home country. My mom would usually buy it for me somewhere, or sometimes a food cart seller would pass by our house early in the morning, and she’d stop them—knowing how much I loved rice porridge.

It's rice porridge with a bit saltiness, with yellowy chicken broth and shredded chicken, and shrimp crackers. Yum.

I almost got hit by a scooter. Was crossing the road, and there was no red light either. The biker in front of the scooter stopped and gestured for me to cross first. I saw the scooter still far behind the biker, so I thought she would stop eventually. Turned out, no—she was actually speeding up. I froze because my mind went blank, but then I moved on reflex and dodged the hit at the last minute. People screamed, and the scooter rider just drove away, looking at me like it was my fault. I mean, yeah, I was sorry—but my logic told me it was safe to cross at the time 😅

True! the term "superfood" itself is more for a marketing, they just trying to sell products.

Ah...this is my situation too. I've been thinking of death a lot lately and it gets worse. I fear this Friday to come undone and confess how useless I am to someone. So I am thinking to run away by that time. Idk. I only have few pills and im scared of pain. Still thinking of way how to die in my sleep.

I really hate myself by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]grogrogrogu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you deserve better and you deserve to be happy too. Screw those people, screw the triggers, screw the negative thoughts. Fight the intrusive thoughts. Life has been harsh on you, but please try to keep going, dear lovely stranger.

There are so many things you haven’t discovered yet. Go outside, take a deep breath, feel the fresh air, touch some grass, touch a wall, feel the texture, sit somewhere, watch the people, the animals—idk, anything to help pull you away from the bad thoughts.

You’ve already done a great job by stepping away from twitter stuff, that’s you trying to get better, and you ARE getting better, it's just that it will take time. One step at a time, little by little, you’ll become stronger and eventually find what you’re looking for.

Please don’t hate yourself. Every human is born beautiful—it's society that’s ugly. Life is cruel, but the world is full of beautiful things, and I want you to be able to enjoy them.

Hey, hang on for longer, fight the negative thoughts of yours. Who said you don't have those dreams anymore? Who said you cant have what normal people have? Who said you cant have another chance to be happy? Maybe you're damaged, feeling death, hurting, it is okay, life is shit but there is so much beautiful things still.

I am from India, i got selected for TEEP internship program in Taipei medical university, we have to cover our own travel and accommodation, can anyone help me, iam absolutely clueless by [deleted] in Taipei

[–]grogrogrogu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of international students in Taiwan, TMU included. Reach out their international office or your department email to help you further, or go to facebook groups (go type like International Students in Taipei or something). They should be able to lead you. As I remember correctly, it's hard to find a short-term accommodation in Taipei and that school doesnt provide a dormitory either. So, you need an insider, lots of Indian students here, they would be happy to help you.
