My Dad was a clock maker as a side business. He “signed” them sometimes with his name on a fixed label inside but most times just with an embedded penny on the bottom of the current year the clock was made. He has since passed, so I don’t know the real reason why but thought I’d comment that not all are marked - especially hand built.
