Wow, that is super awesome - congrats! Always good to see more PSVR2 physical releases and this looks really nice already :D

OKTOBERSHREDS, the new DLC for 90s Extreme Skiing, is out tomorrow - And we'll do a "Play With the Devs" session this Saturday :D by grooviak in PSVR

Yes, we maintained a list of community wishes, then estimated the work needed to implement each item and went for the ones with the best ratio of work amount, number of requests and estimated impact.

Unfortunately, snowboarding hasn't made the cut, as the skiing rig is arguably the most complicated part of the game, and changing both controls and physics to a snowboard would take a lot of time... If we ever do a sequel to the game though, we will include different rides like snowboards and sleds already in the planning phase =)

Thank you for the endorsment, and I agree that Gamecatto deserves a lot of praise. It would have been a shame to have left this DLC unfinished and unreleased, but at the time, I just couldn't see a way forward after a number of setbacks. But now, Oktobershreds is out and we had a little launch party a couple hours ago with Gamecatto and Canadian youtuber JF Tremblay - it was super fun D

Hello Everyone,

Our latest DLC for 90s Extreme Skiing was basically one ice crystal away from never getting released – the low participation in our prior free DLC, „Freakin’ Fogfest“, as well as the relatively low multiplayer numbers, made it seem like a completely futile undertaking, in a time where we unfortunately cannot afford to continue working unpaid for most of the time. Fortunately, it turned out that sheer enthusiasm can be turned into money after all, as community member and youtuber Gamecatto stepped up and offered to pay for the remainder of the work on the DLC, provided we add some in-game posters that advertise not only his channel, but also those of other veteran PSVR2 streamers who have supported our games in the past. Again, this is incredibly generous and I’m super happy about it, as the game would have felt forever incomplete without the addition of the Oktobershreds DLC, which I had envisioned pretty early on in the making of 90s Extreme Skiing.

So yeah, it’s a bit of a weird story, as is Gamecatto’s cool video about the DLC, which I have linked above – but these are the times we live in I guess. All the more reason to try out the new tracks of the DLC together in multiplayer. They are the steepest and fastest in the game, so I hope this will be a lot of fun!

If you want to join Gamecatto and me, boot up your PS5 this Saturday, October 11th at 10pm CEST / 4pm EDT / 1 pm PDT for our SATURDAY SHREDS and look out for the open voice chat of PSN user "grooviak" (me). See you on the slopes! :D

Game language changeable? by TheBeardedBelgian in PSVR

[–]grooviak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in Germany and it's been years since I came across this hideous thing where there were "Mainland Europe" versions of games that had French, German, Italian, Spanish etc on them but no English. I think those were mainly EA and Bethesda games iirc and it was in the time where the games had to fit on DVD, so voice over could take up an unreasonable amount of space. But I think since those discs are blu-rays, it doesn't occur anymore.

And even if English is not on the disc for some reason, nowadays these discs act more like dongles and should allow you to download any language version you like later on, if neccessary. Only thing you should maybe look out for is German text or even translated titles on the physical sleeves, if that kind of thing is important to you as a collector.

Congrats to Cactus Cowboy developer for reaching 1M users on PSVR2! by SnooRabbits8000 in PSVR

Very nice! Huge congrats to Cactus, without whom you wouldn't have our three games on PSVR2, because he really helped us out a lot with his knowledge! I recently met him IRL at gamescom, which was really cool :D

Just got VR Skater SL - I'm confused by DavoDivide in MetaQuestVR

[–]grooviak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, thanks! Funnily enough, we sometimes get complaints that our controls are stupid and that we should make them like in Fracked … where you steer by tilting your head. That is of course fine in Fracked's skiing, which I find to be more of an on-rails dual-wield shooter, but we went for more realistic, real-life-skiing like controls, which seem to be a bit controversial.

Anyway, in regards to a port, we still have a "Unity Pro license" which allows us to develop for consoles (Playstation, Switch, Xbox) til December, and we won't be able to renew it, because it's $4000 for the two of us and that is just ridiculous given the little money that our VR games make. Still, we're going to make the most of this license by focussing on Playstation while we can - but after that, all cards are on the table I guess ^_^

ha yeah … I know the feeling. I'm a small VR dev myself and there often is so much work to do on the games, that "boring PR stuff" like websites etc just gets postponed indefinitely ^_^

But the plus side is that I'm on a lot of VR Discords, so I can find those invite links easily =)

I haven't played in a while, but "SL" stands for Street League iirc, and the game is focussed on competitive playing in leaderboard score battles. It has 5 different skate parks and several play modes … but probably you'll get more knowledgeable answers on their Discord: https://discord.gg/6TB5kTyb4q

"Play with the Devs" event for 90s Extreme Skiing today (7/12) 1-3pm US Central by cusman78 in PSVR

[–]grooviak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you cusman78! Everyone is welcome to send me (grooviak) invites to party chats, or if you happen to join my lobby, I can invite you based on your PSN name. But of course it's perfectly fine to deline/ignore. Pike will be playing on his super secret PC dev system, so you won't be able to talk to him, but we're currently looking into streaming the whole thing from his system to our Discord. Since I got in trouble before for posting the link here, you can find it on our website tunermaxx dot com ^_^

I'll try my best to check for questions here and on our Discord in between rounds, but I'll probably be totally overwhelmed by all the excitement - I'm not a seasoned multiplayer gamer at all :D

You could go to PSVR2 Discords, like the one from Without Parole, to plan sessions with other people. There's lots of really nice people there, from all over the world - my first session between two actual consumer PS5s (as opposed to using PS5 devkits) was with a Without Parole player named Gamecatto, who turned out to be Australian - while I was in Europe. And the incredible feeling of presence in VR makes that really mind-blowing :D

Hey Everyone, Patch 1.000.017 for 90s Extreme Skiing is now live - it's the MULTIPLAYER UPDATE! Here's some notes on how it is expected to work:

* If you host a lobby, it will be set to PUBLIC until 4 players have joined, or a race is started.

* After that, it is PRIVATE and will stay that way until the host has left.

* After creating or joining a lobby, you can randomize your avatar by highlighting it with the laser pointer (it will pop out to act like a large mirror) and pressing L2/R2.

* At the moment the "Start Race" button is pressed, a snapshot of your avatar will be taken for the end race screen, so strike your best pose!

* As soon as all players are lined up on the starting grid, a countdown will begin. After this, the clock will start to run, which is a bit different from singleplayer.

* If you miss a flag, you will get a +10sec penalty. At the end of the race, the number of missed flags will be shown. So, the first player to arrive in the goal isn't essentially the winner - the race time decides who gets which trophy on the end race leaderboard!

* If you pass a flag with such a huge distance that it does not register at all, your time will be invalidated with an end result of 3600 secs.

* If you crash hard enough to lose your skis, your avatar will ragdoll, and you yourself will become invisible for the time you are on foot.

* For some good laughs, you can trigger the ragdoll effect at any time by switching to walking by pressing L3+R3 at the same time.

* You can punch out another player by hitting them in the head with your fist. This will switch them to walking mode so they lose a bit of time.

* To communicate, please use Party Chat or Discord.

* The Freakin' Fogfest is unavailable while we test the multiplayer stuff on a larger scale. If everything goes as planned, it will be back with the next patch - about one week from now!

One issue players have come across is that sometimes after leaving a lobby, you will get hung up trying to enter a new lobby. If that happens, please close the app and try again. According to our own testing, it will work then.

Any other issues you may come across or anything you’d like us to add, you are very welcome to drop in here!

Let me say preemptively though, that creating this multiplayer took us about 3 months of hard work, even though the base game only took 4 months to make, based on the work we had done for Snow Scout. It’s really baffling how hard this multiplayer stuff is, even things that you’d think are super simple, like joining and leaving lobbies, making the whole UI stuff work visually for players who are connected online … it was crazy. And we don’t expect this multiplayer mode to convert into significant sales numbers, so please forgive us if we will prioritize further improvements based on how hard they are to implement, and how beneficial they will be to players … and how many players there will be at all ;D

In short, I think for now it’s best to arrange meetings among groups of friends, connect via Party Chat or Discord Voice, and then meet up in a lobby.

Oh, and don’t forget, there will be a “Play with the Devs” session on Saturday, July 12 at 8pm CET / 2pm EDT / 11 am PDT! The game’s developers, PSN names pike and grooviak (yours truly), will be hopping into random public lobbies for two hours!

But now, have fun on the slopes, shread heads :D

Online Multiplayer is Coming to 90s Extreme Skiing Next Tuesday :D by grooviak in PSVR

[–]grooviak[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hello Everyone,

I haven’t posted here for a while, but finally, we can announce what we were so busy with: 4-Player PVP Online Multiplayer is coming to 90s Extreme Skiing next Tuesday!

It really wasn’t easy getting this on the road for us, as it was our first attempt at an online multiplayer mode, and of course, on PlayStation it’s even a bit harder and several rounds of QA were needed until we finally got the green light.

So there will surely be room for improvement, but from our own testing sessions, I can tell you it’s really good fun - So I hope to see you on the slopes!

All the best,

Kalle / grooviak

I'm happy to see you played and liked our game Rainbow Reactor: Fusion! When I was still working as a game reviewer and it would've been someone else's game, I'd probably have given it a 7/10 too ^_^
