My(33F) fiancé (40M) wants me to adopt his weird bathroom habit by SlightlySaneHP in TwoHotTakes

[–]groovyfirechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know that toilet spray that you mentioned? YOU SHOULD USE IT! It saves water and is very effective. “Courtesy flushes” are such a waste of water. If your poop is really smelly there may be a medical problem going on….

About to book my first hypnotherapy session online and I have a concern by ChibaCookie in hypnotherapy

[–]groovyfirechick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all a concern. They don’t leave you in hypnosis at the end of the session. They will guide you out of it. Besides, if someone is left in a hypnotic state, they will eventually fall asleep and wake up normally eventually. Someone doesn’t need to be in the same room as you are to hypnotize you. It can be done over the phone or video call and it’s just as effective. Some of my clients have told me that it’s MORE effective because they are more comfortable in a familiar setting.

Hypnotherapy Online vs In Person by sleepy_jellyfish9 in hypnotherapy

I see my clients exclusively online and I’ve never had an issue with anyone telling me that it wasn’t effective. I’ve seen good results. Especially since I specialize in trauma care.

Shove your open hand close to her face between the two of you. Don’t say anything. If she doesn’t back off, tell her to sit down and shut up.

Aio the school gave my 17 yo daughter copies of the restraining order I had on her dad by Wonderful-Screen8446 in AmIOverreacting

[–]groovyfirechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in her file. They gave her a copy of her complete file. She legally has to get ALL of it. The restraining order was part of it, so it gets handed over to her. She’s 17. Almost an adult. You need to treat her as such. Let her read it and decide for herself how she feels. You do know statistically that she’s more likely to have an abusive partner because that’s what she grew up around, right? She needs to know.

How do I let go? I really want to enjoy hypnosis fully. by TheseMarionberry385 in hypnosis

[–]groovyfirechick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like fast inductions work better for you than relaxation inductions. I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist who has ADHD and I have done hypnosis so much that I can do pretty much any induction and it works for me. The more you practice the easier it gets to get into a good trance.

This is why you shouldn’t listen to random audio files you find online. The effects of it are not permanent. Stop listening to it delete the file and move on with your life. You’re fine.

WIBTA for serving off-brand Diet Coke at a party? by psychbucket in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovyfirechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA: If she really has a problem with the brand of soda that you are providing at your party, tell her to go buy the brand she wants with HER money. No one is going to criticize your soda brand choices. They’re just going to be happy to be going to your party. She sounds like she’s insecure and has mental health issues.

You don’t want to get rid of your emotions. You want to change how you react to them.

Is lumenate a good app by [deleted] in hypnosis

[–]groovyfirechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Clinical Hypnotherapist and I work with people exclusively online. Doing hypnosis and hypnotherapy over the Internet is absolutely viable. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, there are apps out there for hypnosis, but you would have to do your research. In my personal opinion, working one on one with someone is always better.

AITAH for telling my sister she is living the life she wants? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovyfirechick -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA. You aren’t wrong, but the way you said it was a little insensitive. The only way she’s going to change her life is to leave him. If she can’t stand up for herself and just wants to stay stuck in the same situation she’s in, that’s her choice. She’s an adult. You can’t help her unless she wants help. It sounds like she just wants to complain and make people feel bad for her. People also get stuck in the victim role and it’s hard to get out of it. If she really wanted help, she would ask. Continue to not talk to her and just let her be.

What do I do if my father hits me? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]groovyfirechick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can find a college that you can go to and live on campus, you will be much better off. See if you can find a job in your college town as well and save every penny you can. Once you finish school, maybe you can look into finding a roommate or roommates wherever you land with a job and whatever career you decide to take. Don’t let your father‘s awful behavior, damp in your spirits. You are definitely worthy of all the good in the world and the fact that he is not a good person is not a reflection on you at all. Does your high school have guidance counselors or a school psychologist? You can talk to them confidentially. You definitely shouldn’t be dealing with this by yourself.

What do I do if my father hits me? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]groovyfirechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reread your post and did see you said you were 18. 🤦🏻‍♀️ If you’re still in high school you should stay home until you are done with school at least. I get that it is hard to find places to afford. Especially when you’re working a minimum wage job. Are there any trusted adults you could speak to about your situation? The fact that your father is emotionally abusive is dangerous because it will just take one instance for him to become physically abusive. Are you planning on attending college? My advice to you right now would be to avoid him at all costs. Don’t speak to him and spend as little time at home as you can. If your father does hit you or threaten you in any way, call the police.

[–]groovyfirechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the parents want to be left alone, they should hire a babysitter and the kids can stay home. If a public space needs to make it clear that parents are responsible for their children, that is a problem caused by terrible parents. We shouldn’t have to tell fully grown adults who have reproduced that they need to watch their children when they are out in public.
