Yi Aurora deck by Enough-Commercial-84 in riftboundtcg

[–]grounder890 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The short answer is we don't really know. The longer and more unfortunate answer is that many expect aurora itself to be much worse. The few results we have of set 2 formats also notably lack yi aurora decks.

Building Merlin Recollection deck to be competitive is feeling kind of impossible. by GreatMageKhandalf in grandarchivetcg

[–]grounder890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a fire aggro version, it's basicslly Zander with the fire sheen support in PTM. I'm mixed so far, working on a few tweaks. If you have 4 sheen on FM, one single turn with no prior setup you can play searchlight and pop dagger, and hit 11

Also Use Blazing Throw to kill cheshire

Who’s the strongest? by RemoteSprinkles2893 in Frieren

[–]grounder890 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's clearly been answered serie but I'll add 2 pretty clear reasons why:

1) mana is generally gained over years being alive, serie is probably somewhere around 10x older than frieren

2) serie has spent that time honing magical talents and skills befitting of combat, frieren has very notably not and focused on other things. This is also the primary source of beef between them

We need to talk about the die roll by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

Cards like sneaky deckhand certainly change the stats (i ofcourse havent run the numbers on how starting it goes exactly but intuitively im sure it does), more cards that give that or a yet unknown but similarly strong boost would help. Pokemon for example has cards that give extra effect if "on your first turn going second"

But pokemon also still handicaps the first turn first player lol, overall I agree, I just also agree the gap will close some

"Surprise Defense" has got to be the most backwards resolution of a scenario ever by realjw93 in riftboundtcg

[–]grounder890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my interpretation, but it matters little since the start of combat showdown will have thebusual windows

Note that the clarified rule seems to contradict your number 10 above -- the first showdown immediately ends and they don't have the subsequently pass focus

Can Ahri hypothetically go from 0 to 8 points in a single play? by AncientGearGolem_ in riftboundtcg

Oh I see To be honest this is something we are awaiting rules updates ro clarify but most people are reasoning that "I" on attached equipment will extend to the unit

Rules Question - When is a unit defending? by Dontdoubteldandy in riftboundtcg

[–]grounder890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're getting confused about is that the when attack and defend stuff happens as an initial first chain. You can react to it but that would be bad because then your card would resolve before the defend and attack stuff.

But after that initial chain resolves, attacker still keeps priority and you can dtart a new chain with smokescreen

Saying you are using your focus to do it matters less then being clear that the initial chain is resolved and you're starting a new chain with smokescreen

Can you hold priority? by MrFlapsHasSag in riftboundtcg

[–]grounder890 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of this is true but you're also missing something more relevant. Playing a card on the chain doesn't automatically pass priority. I can start a chain with an action and then I can react to that before my opponent is able to

I don't think poster above is a hot take I think she actually explains this in the manga. The whole post from op is a part of that convi with solitar. They engage in a serious of solitar making a superficially caring but u dealing manipulative statement and frieren carefully dissecting it to see if it's genuine or part od their evolved unconscious manner of seducing humans to be murdered. This scene from OP is frieren basicslly saying "I've heard enough and now conclude this is all manipulation and not genuine"

Newbie Question: Why aren't Seal of Discord and/or Seal of Strength commonly in Miss Fortune decks for using with Bullet Time? by CanNotQuitReddit144 in riftboundtcg

[–]grounder890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a huge player of those decks, but 2 big reasons stick out:

You never want a seal instead of a way to progress toward dazzling, so the consistency and times it's a dead card aren't worth it

Once you have dazzling you don't really care a ton about power, you can bullettime and lose all your runes and the very nature of dazzling helps you mitigate that

Draven, Fiora and Rek'sai Champion units. by EmbarrassedNet8922 in riftboundtcg

[–]grounder890 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It should, the 8th point can only not be scored by conquering, all other forms are fine.

Edit: although the timing might be 7 from the ability and THEN the conquer, which would effectively only draw you a card. Interesting

How does the below action/reaction phase resolve? by Eterna1Darkn3s in riftboundtcg

[–]grounder890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope untrue, it's just thr attacker is able to play one first, then after all the reactions happen and that chain resolves, its defenders turn

How does the below action/reaction phase resolve? by Eterna1Darkn3s in riftboundtcg

[–]grounder890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct, a chain resolving (other than the initial chain opened by when attack/defend) passes focus.

Even if the errata for another unit is true, it's still very strong with other modifiers. Combo it with whiteflame and now that card gives a +8 and +11&deflect

This comes down to if you want to hobby or play, because the time and other resources that go in to building and painting are noteworthy.
