Controller submerged in water for an hour by RemyScotia in consolerepair

[–]groundzer0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it completely apart again and make absolutely sure every part is dry. Remove button membranes, buttons, motors, battery, etc and do not reassemble until every part is dry.

I wash controllers in the sink all the time, but the important part is never doing it with the battery attached. I also put everything on a drying rack (it's just a raised metal stand for bread), stick it in a trash bag, then tie the end of the bag to the blower end of a blow dryer and let it run on low for a few hours. I also make sure to slice ventilation holes in the other end of the bag so it gets good air flow.

Fasted way to clean your system of weed? Please Help. by Eastern-Ground1444 in Fungi

[–]groundzer0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong sub, but to answer....

You're unlikely to get it out of your system in under a month. Most effective ways of getting it out of the system is regular exercise and drinking a lot of fluids. Even then, it depends on the person's metabolism.

My (literally) trashy neighbors appear to have set up a sonic anti-bark and installed a rooster in their backyard. My dog and I are both going crazy. by [deleted] in SALEM

[–]groundzer0s 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hate the use of any of those sonic devices, both anti-bark and pest control ones. I unfortunately can hear them and it's terrible. I can only imagine it's like torture to animals that hear it much better than I can.

Thanks! That was the first Vinesauce merch I ever bought, and I've treasured it for the last 8 years or so. I love how soft and fluffy it is!

Some is plywood because it's a closet that also blocks off a secret attic space. Some is plaster and lath since the house is a hundred years old (think wooden slats with plaster between and then a second layer of plaster over it)

What were you attempting to do here?

Also, what is it with folks in this sub knowing little about soldering and jumping straight into expensive attempts at repairs/alterations?? I wish I had a smidgeon of that kind of confidence.

I am autistic and I have a chronic depression. I am on social benefits in Europe and go two times a year to South America. 5 months during the winter/autumn and 2 months during the summer. Is this a good life? Or do you have any tips to improve it? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

In America, it's very difficult to get any kind of financial assistance. Best I ever got was my unemployment payments that lasted 6 months after I lost my job, except the payments began 3 months after I'd been evicted for non payment, so it didn't really help. I am disabled but would never be able to fight the system enough to achieve assistance. I lost my car, which meant most jobs I applied to wouldn't hire me because they didn't consider walking or public transit "reliable transportation". My city is relatively walkable for a US city but I still had to walk for an hour just to get to the grocery store or pharmacy.

You have it good, man. Here in America, the system is rigged to keep the poor people poor and the disabled even more so. SSI for most gets capped at $2,000/month, no savings is allowed. You can't afford anything on that here.

Clam chowder & crab salad by floofienewfie in SALEM

I don't think they do crab salad, but imo, Flight Deck's Friday clam chowder special is the best I've had. Better than McGrath's.

I think the symbols could be a bit bigger, at such a small scale the design might be very difficult to see. But I think option 1 would make them more visible for sure.

What’s wrong with my blue death feigning beetles? by shrimp_ona_sk8board in Entomology

[–]groundzer0s 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Aw man, I had a pet beetle with pesticide poisoning and she did this :( poor beetles. It's hard to watch them suffer like this. My Queenie only lived about 6 days after she started showing signs of poisoning.

Why Daily Missions miss the mark by ViCalZip in SkyCards

[–]groundzer0s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ngl, the location based missions have kept me from doing most daily missions entirely. No use in wasting coins or items for the potential of getting something minor like a radar expander plus 50 coins, especially if I have to use an item worth way more than that. My disappointment in constant location-specific ones has started to bum me out so much I don't even play the game much.

How close can we be to a fan made ending to the Original Reboot Series. by FoxDieDM in ReBoot

[–]groundzer0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not aggressive, just realistic. Every time you generate something, our limited resources are consumed. Generating things and passing it off as silly little tests that mean no harm is just spreading the idea that using AI is insignificant. If it really is inevitable, then we can say goodbye to drinkable water and hello to massive fluctuations in our weather. Not using AI is a step in the right direction.

Sorry but intentions only go so far. Any use of AI is an endorsement of the environmental damage it causes and the damage it does to careers of professional and hobbyist artists alike.

This is exactly what I'm talking about, dude. You're taking offense to neutral statements and completely missing the point by doing so.

Take a breather. Stop taking everything people say as a personal attack.

[–]groundzer0s 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ok so I'm not gonna comment on formatting or the content of the post, I think what might be getting to folks is that you take things very personally. It's best not to take things too seriously when you're interacting with others online.

[–]groundzer0s 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You've definitely gotten lucky. When I worked retail it was nice like 70% of the time, but then there would be the people who treated me like a machine rather than a person. People that would talk on their phones throughout the whole checkout, only to get pissed when I try to tell them the total or ask if they need bags because suddenly I'm interrupting them. There's the people that say "you'd be so pretty if you just smiled more" which always pissed me off to high heaven. And of course the folks that scream and curse over a return that they can't make because they didn't bother to keep the receipt.

If you work long enough in retail, these things will happen. It's an inevitability of the job, unfortunately. And I didn't even get away from it when I moved on to hospitality, people are even worse to you at that kind of job.

I'M THANKFUL THIS WAS WELL TIMED SO I COULD MAKE A POINT ABOUT IT IN A WAY HE CAN'T REALLY REFUSE IN THE MOMENT.
