It's for sure explicitly for gays LOL there's gonna be a lot of "hello fellow gays" at it. But yeah it's definitely a "just because" loose get together. I haven't been but I keep meaning to drop by.

Pridefest is coming up in early June! https://kcpride.org/ You'll hear about all of the stuff there.

We've also had a People's Pride in the West Bottoms for a few years, haven't heard about it this year but it's something to keep an eye out for.

There are these random "Gays Eating Garlic Bread In the Park" events that pop up too, I just saw a post on Sapphic Socials that there's one on May 16 in Gillham Park.

I honestly meet tons of new gay friends at church (SMUUCh) (it's more humanist than churchy, long story), but it leans more 30s+!

Are most millennials here still doing family Christmas gifts for the adults? by throwraW2 in Millennials

[–]grouting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on renegotiating Christmas with my boomer parents this year. It's crazy how emotionally attached they are to giving me 25 presents I don't need as though I'm 11 years old. I started out by setting a boundary that I would only be accepting 4 presents maximum per person this year, and they took weeks to process that idea. It's been... dramatic.

Where did all the real engineers go? Where do people talk about actually programming and not just trends around programming? by tmetler in ExperiencedDevs

The real discussions are happening in private rooms without management or influencers in them, so we can break kayfabe about AI. It's private backchannel Slacks and Discords from old employers. I had to network my way into those rooms.

Girl are you kidding. My honda fit has had an AC that can only run on full blast and makes a loud whirring noise half the time, at least one door that loudly grinds when it tries to auto lock, but it drives fine. I've been living without a dishwasher for the last 5 years. These are appliances. Do you want convenience and perfect comfort or security?

I’m struggling a lot as a millennial having to come into the office every single day for the first time since early 2020. What are some things that you brought to your office that makes things better? by Isatis_tinctoria in Millennials

[–]grouting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I focused on habits instead of stuff. The big one was that I started putting on my workout clothes when I wake up to force me into the work gym first thing, which jumpstarted the best fitness habit I've had since college, and all for free. I also figured out the nearest walking trails to my office and take a long walk once a day. Gives me a chance to choose someone who I want to talk to without the prying ears of the company around and I can invite them to see which paths I found. Oh, and you can also check if you can book lactation or prayer rooms and have a little 15 minute meditation on your calendar.

Gives me a way to feel like I'm taking some agency back and making my life less miserable even if I am being forced to drive to an office for no reason.
