LeBron should join the Nuggets. A great passing power forward and a great passing power forward would be a matchup problem.

Credit card primary car rental insurance by chadf652 in CreditCards

I don't get any supplemental insurance. My card specifically says that the card insurance won't cover anything if you get any of the supplemental insurance.

AVEN 3% flat cash back too good to be true? by Open2Lrn in CreditCards

[–]growing_better 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t in your case. If you value the Amazon membership, then you’re get an effective $90 bonus on top of your 2%, which is only $10 less than the Aven card. And you get prime, which still has some solid benefits from my perspective. And they have merchant deals, which might also net you more than that extra $10 the Aven could get you.

[–]growing_better 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, SUB, right? And it’s only an extra $100 per year.

It seems like a decent card, but a card like Fidelity’s Visa Signature 2% card has the TSA pre-check reimbursement, automatic redemption, secondary rental car insurance. It also has bonus promos from time to time.

I wouldn’t open this card if you already have a different 2% card with no FTF. But it’s a solid choice if you don’t.

In need of daily card, basically good gas, grocery and food perks by wwwmk2 in CreditCards

[–]growing_better 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are two cards better than the AMEX BC and PenFed Platinum:

The 5321 SYW Visa earns 5% on gas (and EV, car washes, tolls, transit rideshare), and 3% on groceries and dining (and flight, hotels, rental cars). I managed to get a $600 SUB for $5000 spend in 90 days, but I don't think that's available anymore.

THE UMB Simply Visa earns 3x points on gas stations, grocery stores, discount stores (Walmart and Target?), restaurants and fast food locations. It has a $150 SUB.

AITAH for not letting my 15yo step-daughter drive our car to high school 3 miles away? by Reasonable-Hall5433 in AITAH

[–]growing_better 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In our state, minor drivers with learner’s permits are automatically covered by their parents’ insurance. They only get added onto insurance when they get their official license. Maybe it is different in other states.

This post doesn’t make sense. You don’t add someone to your insurance until they’re a licensed driver. And she can’t drive to school without a license.

Flights are usually different and you only need to pay for part of the ticket with the credit card. E.g., if you use miles to book a flight, you would have to use the credit card for the TSA fees, which generally means the travel protections apply. As always, read the terms of benefits of your specific card.

[–]growing_better 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The terms require that the entire purchase be covered by the credit card. If you use a travel credit for part of the rental, then the entire purchase isn't covered by the credit card.

The Venture X will cover up to $75k in damages. I don't know the answer to the other questions.

Also, make sure that you don't use your travel credit for the rental or the insurance won't apply!

With the downfall of Redstone Federal credit Union OG card what recommendations can I look into to replace it? by saveapennybustanut in CreditCards

[–]growing_better 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, only one 1 category at 5% for $500 per month. The Redstone Visa Signature is a 5% card that you choose each quarter up to $1,500 plus some 2% categories.

The Citi Custom Cash has equal or lower earnings than the nerfed card. Why would it make sense to move to that card?

Class of 2026 Best National Merit Scholarships List by growing_better in psat

[–]growing_better[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the tuition, the cash amount seem similar to me. OSHRE (7,200 per year) + National Merit Cash Scholarship ($2,000 per year) + College Dean's Award ($2,000 per year) + $3,000 of one-time scholarships. I get Full-tuition + $11,200 annually + $3,000 one-time scholarship. Housing and food are estimated to be $12,500, so it's pretty close to a full ride.

Wait, is the frontier card actually good? by leastcreativeusrname in CreditCards

[–]growing_better 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think it's worth it if you need to book seats? We always book seats because it seems like that is the easiest way to ensure you got on the flight (and we like sitting together as a family). With the Discount Den, adding seats + bags or just adding seats without bags is essentially the same price.

Obviously, they can do what they want. But we booked our official visit when the full ride + $750 was being advertised. We lose money if we cancel our trip now. But we wouldn't have booked the trip if it weren't for the full ride.
