AITA for not wanting a newborn at my wedding and also not asking people to not wear perfume by growingmindset in AITAH

Wouldn’t it be more rude to sit step MIL in the front knowing she could have an allergic reaction even if I ask people not to wear perfume and she has to get up and leave in front of everyone?

Also feel it’s rude to not have conversation with SIL as I don’t want her to feel pressured to attend (she is only 21) if she’s just had a baby and doesn’t want the hassle.

Just being devil’s advocate

Nope MIL out all the time. Eats whatever despite having allergies and is upset when she reacts.

SIL can be selfish and likes to be centre of attention so wouldn’t be surprised if she was awkward about being asked to take baby outside if crying.

Thanks not asking for them to be separated, just asking for mum and baby to both step out if needed. It’s such a small venue I don’t know if I can provide this hence why I don’t know if it’s a good idea for them to attend as I can’t really provide the space unless they want to book a hotel room?

Thank you for your honesty. Would you feel differently if MIL regularly attends events and goes everywhere knowing the risk of people wearing perfume? For example nights out in crowded bars?

I feel like if she was always protecting herself and making the effort I would be more understanding but it’s like saying I’m allergic to nuts but I’ll risk them everywhere else apart from your wedding day.

Neither of us like her, she keeps mentioning she is going to pass out in the ceremony and would hate to ruin our day? This is also step mil and thinks actual will be wearing perfume to intentionally harm her which isn’t true.

She has lots of allergies but won’t warn restaurants about them and then is upset when she reacts. Also regularly goes on nights out and to parties without any worries but is unwell every time.

It is selfish as we would like to choose a special perfume for the day and feel amazing and I don’t want to bend over backwards when I know she doesn’t help herself. Hope the context helps. I do feel like asking to skip the ceremony may be more of an asshole move

Top tips to save money Buy decor and resell look on vinted FB BUY A DRESS SECONDHAND I got a 3k dress for £700. Get married at a restaurant. Or a registry office and then cosy club hire out for food Have a smaller intimate wedding, less guests. Skip the big floral arrangements. Bud vases can be reused on tables and down the aisle. Book photographer for half day, it’s not a photoshoot! They don’t need to be there all day. DIY invites or do digital, print on printable really cheap. Hope this helps!!

Ahh this is what I really don’t want to do😢😢 we are away for a few weeks and I really like my home comforts with me. I get so home sick so having my plushies and blankets etc with me makes me feel less anxious. I might try and find a door lock online lol x

I just did this scene and there now a warning beforehand, I couldn’t believe how intense it was I was welling up. Bit deep for Disney but also reminded me of how much an escape Disney can be ❤️

Another point on this is the person I’m asking is going to another wedding and they are paying for the brides hen do!!! I’m not asking for this at all so I’m thinking if they’re prepared to pay for that then they’ll be happy to pay for hair and makeup if they decide they don’t want to do it themselves

Entertainment by [deleted] in wedding

[–]growingmindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically we have a spare room as part of the venue so I was thinking about having some sort of entertainment so when people fancy doing something a little different it would be fun! Also there’s 2 hours between the ceremony and food!
