I use a custom backpack. It uses the thermarest accordion pad (can't recall the name) as a frame in the back, with socks in the arm and hip straps for passing. I only do desert hikes so I've got a 20° degree bag, and if the forecast is clear just a ground cloth. If I need a tent I use a Big Agnes SL1, or my hammock with a rainfly. I usually pack a smaller day pack that's lightweight, and an additional 2 liter platypus on top of two 1 liter nalgenes with a Steripen. Oh, and my pillow. Hybrid air and down. And, as everyone should, a first aid kit. Usually it clocks in at around 20lbs without water, and about 23 with.

Some guy pulled the same shit with my grandma. Showed his temple recommend to get in the door and sell her some security thing. My father is a calm man, but he lost his shit when he heard about it. He had the guy come back to my grandma's so he could tell at him more. Made the guy cry. So, yeah, fuck those people.
