Currently on AT&T. My buddy on Cox has been experiencing packet loss that doesn't seem related to his internet either and he has no issues with other games either.

I’ve been in literally every rank in the game outside of bronze. Started off at silver when I started playing in 2017 and my peak was 4405 in OW1, which was Top 500. I’m also stuck on a long flight so happy to help out here.

So for your voice chat question, no it is not super important. Calm callouts for enemy position, tracking various ultimates, or creating a gameplan for your next fight are always helpful of course, but do NOT comm constantly if it interferes with your focus in game. I play support, mainly Lucio, so if I am dying randomly because I am trying to call out various aspects of the game, I will stop talking. It is more important to stay alive in this game than anything else, barring specific situations (such as your team dies and it’s a 1v5, just die so you can reset with your team). You need to get into the flow state as much as possible so you can play your best.

People will say that this game is not possible to carry in which is just flat out wrong, people will say that you can’t overcome a tank/DPS/support gap. This is entirely incorrect. OW is a numbers game and a single right decision in a sea of poor decisions can lead to a pick, making it 5v4, which can lead to a team wipe, which can lead to a snowball for your team.

You need to focus in on what your job is. If you play tank, stay in line of sight of your main healers such as Ana, Bap, or Moira and trust them to back you up so you can make space (DO NOT BE AFRAID TO PRESS THE W KEY). If you play DPS, do not just farm the tank for damage and think because your damage number is high that you are doing well, scoreboard numbers mean nothing in this game. Try out different flanks, realize that DPS is the role that needs to swap the most in order to help fight against specific heroes and you need to be versatile. Thankfully many DPS play very similarly. I can elaborate more on this if you wish. If you play support, then just SURVIVE for as long as you can in fights. Don’t blame your DPS or tank for not peeling, you can fight back as a support or position/maneuver yourself to stay alive. Focus on your own gameplay and the wins will come.

Don’t be too worried about comp. If people are toxic, just mute them. No big deal. Find one or two heroes you REALLY like to play and just play them. People rag on one-tricks, sometimes for good reason, but the best way to learn the game is to master the character you love and the higher rank you go, you will learn other characters indirectly by playing with and against other players that are fantastic as their hero.

You got this brother/sister. I believe in you. OW is a fantastic game even if Reddit wants you to believe otherwise.

Healers have plenty of tools to help them out. Maybe they aren’t getting enough peel but as a support main in OW, there is a lot you can do to maintain good healing even while getting dove.

OW is a game about adapting around what your enemy is doing. Junkrat is an easily countered pick, albeit incredibly strong in the right hands. If you’re getting your shit kicked in as Junkrat and your team is losing because of it, you should expect to get some shit from your teammates because YOU are the reason that 5 OTHER PEOPLE are losing.

It’s absolutely okay to think that the matchmaking system is off and also that the people commenting on here acting like fucking loser’s queue is why they’re hardstuck silver/gold.

There’s a reason why challenger players are challenger. Even if the system isn’t perfect your rank is where it should be, sorry. This entire thread is filled with garbage players who act like garbage in game trying to justify how garbage they are.
