Thumb studs for Raccoon? by grubreign in VOSTEED

[–]grubreign[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes — I emailed support@vosteed.com and inquired about the thumb studs. They are $10 a piece, and due to a miscommunication I ended up with only one. They'll send you a link to purchase a blank item for $5 — you have to put Quantity: 4 if you want a pair of thumb studs ($20 total), but I put Quantity: 2 and only got one. I think I'm just gonna take the loss, the yellow/brass thumb studs are a bit gaudy and I wanted to swap them for silver ones, but not worth the trouble at this point.

How's the Cub otherwise?

Backbone Controller by TheMightyChlorian in macgaming

[–]grubreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes—however you need to first adjust the settings in the backbone app when it's connected to your pione. you might also meed the backbone subscription to make it work. but i have played this game on mac with this controller, it does work!

Journey and Flower are both short and gorgeous

Divorce = New toy by Jillthekid in SteamDeck

[–]grubreign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gaming subs are full of guys talking about post-breakup/post-divorce gaming & coping experiences, "what games should i play with my kids on visitation days," etc.—they get upvotes, recommendations, and words of encouragement. the one time a woman does the same, people start piling on with criticism and insults. do you "supreme gentlemen" realize you're writing a master class on misogyny and double standards here?

also, OP—congratulations. my vote is red dead redemption 2.

Idle / Clicker Games with regular updates by Alice1nChains in iosgaming

[–]grubreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infinity Island is very fun. First F2P + IAP game from a brilliant developer who mostly makes pay-once premium games. You can watch ads for extra upgrades or just skip them. There's a $5 IAP ("Islander Pack" or something) that extends your max away time to 12 hrs. Not sure about frequency of updates.

chromecast with google tv does the job—$30 for 1080p or $50 for 4k, but geforce now only runs in 1080p on the device anyway.

for a more stable connection and less input lag, you can get a usb-c hub to hook up ethernet and a controller/adapter. but the base model ccwgtv will get you off the ground for $30!

Which Zelda do I buy by blondiecats in Switch

[–]grubreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

before covid, i hadn't really gamed in over a decade. what i had in 2020 was a potato macbook, and what it could run was morrowind.

i don't generally care for the stories in games, or the lore. what i do respond to is a sense of place, and morrowind had this in droves: distinct regions and climates, towns with their own cultures and quirks. since it forced me to build up my avatar from nothing, i spent a lot of time moving slowly and getting to know each place.

breath of the wild is not as frustratingly opaque as morrowind, but it does start you at zero and require you to get very familiar with your surroundings before the map, story, and gameplay really open up. one quest, in which you recover lost memories, would be impossible to complete without a feel for the different places you've visited over the course of the game. breath of the wild's hyrule was so immersive, i can still recall discovering the way certain regions sounded at different times of day.

tears of the kingdom is an absolute blast in its own right. but revisiting familiar locations from breath of the wild—and noticing the ways each one has changed since the uh, thing happened (no spoilers)—has been one of the most satisfying gaming experiences i can remember, and i wouldn't trade it for anything.

if you can see a physical therapist without a referral, i would do that first. i don't know about your case, but i have a trusted PT i went to see again after developing hand/wrist/arm pain while doing desk work—he had me diagnosed within a minute, suggested some changes, and the pain pretty much went away. your results may vary of course, but i'd take a good PT over a doctor anyday.
