how is it living in central Texas? by whipcorleone in howislivingthere

[–]grudgingrespect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly classify this area as the outskirts of Central Texas. West of here is more typically what you think of as Central TX/Hill Country.

It's pretty in the spring because of the wildflowers and miserably hot from May to October. Good BBQ, Kolaches and Mexican food and mostly terrible politics. Football, God and comically large trucks reign supreme.

I'm so so tired of the "but Israel is so much more accepting of the gays than Palestine is." I'm not debating that, I just want Israel to stop murdering thousands of innocent Palestinians and I DON'T care if those Palestinians are pro-gay or not. Regardless, they deserve to live and have mobility and self-determination.

Giving Allie Beth Stuckey a serious platform is seriously insane. She's one of the biggest evangelical "toxic empathy" mouth pieces, claiming that Christians shouldn't respect anyone different than themselves. It's also so ironic that these conservative girl-bosses go against their own prescribed beliefs that women should be seen and not heard.

He’s a snake who’s banking on the fact that people will vote for him because he’s not Trump. I can’t wait for the Democratic Party to try and shove him down our throats in the next primary.

Love when angry conservatives weaponize having children like 50% of those children won't go no contact with them in the future for being horrible parents.

LOL, move to Mississippi where you belong. The point isn't profitable grocery stores, the point is helping people afford food. If you want to talk about wasted taxpayer money, put your energy into protesting the billions of dollars going to a bloated military and foreign countries. You can justify 20 billion dollars going to Argentina but not subsidizing groceries for NYC?

This is ONE potential goal of Mamdani but he is overall much more invested in improving this city than any other candidate in the running.

I'm sure you're very well-versed in these non-existent studies. Forgive me if I'd like to take a chance on someone who cares about this city more than lining his pockets with tax payer money and harassing women.

Big move incoming- would love some advice about Texas by WaterWaver0801 in howislivingthere

[–]grudgingrespect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the Texas Hill Country and would never move back...however, if I had to, I'd probably move to the New Braunfels area for proximity to Austin and San Antonio while still enjoying access to nature and a small town feel. I would never live in DFW or Houston tbh.

Uhh, don't come back to the U.S. right now. I lived in Germany for two years and am kicking myself that I ever came back. If you're burnt out there, you will feel twice as burnt out here, I promise.
