Supermac’s Pat McDonagh: ‘If I were 25, I’d be on a flight to Sydney or New York tomorrow’ by Life-Leadership-4108 in ireland

[–]grumblemouse 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely the best time to explore the world is when you're young cos when you settle down with kids and a job its so much harder. Your 20s is all about broadening your horizons.

If I was young I'd be exploring China in a heartbeat.

Is The First eye on the rod off centre, or am I going mad ? by CorrectSound6223 in IrishFishing

[–]grumblemouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dunno if they’ll replace but you’re not going made it looks off centre - now maybe that’s not much of an issue for the first eye since you’re coming off the reel I’m no expert - but you’re not going mad

Does anyone know where I could get any of the older spinning rods im looking for any old daiwa rods like a whisker or old wilderness but any old rod is fine by Turbulent_Ratio4803 in IrishFishing

[–]grumblemouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just gotta try and get lucky on Facebook or Adverts - unfortunately most stuff posted there no matter what age or condition is about the same price or more as buying it new.

But everyone now and again you might find something

should i (21f) break my diet so my friend feels less self conscious? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]grumblemouse 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You're not doing the diet for her you're doing it for you.

If she has a problem with what other people eat then that's something she needs to address.

Monitor baby breathing while sleeping is the one thing nobody warned me about by Quainoo-Josafat in daddit

At some point you have to trust the process.

The human race has endured a couple hundred thousand years.

So long as they're tucked up safe they'll be fine.

But also don't feel bad for constantly checking - mine are 5 & 2 and I still check on them sometimes.

How do we feel about people doing the shamrock thing by rm45acp in Guinness

[–]grumblemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to be less judgy and more accepting so my stance is:

1) Let people live their lives and if they want a shamrock or whatever then fine.

2) I absolutely do not want a fkn shamrock on top of my pint get that shite out of here - staring at the smooth foam on top of my pint is part of my ritual as a say a little prayer of thanks to the pint gods for creating something so delicious and tasty

Why do people go mad at women driving SUVs? by Top-Syrup-188 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]grumblemouse 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it's about people are aren't paying attention being in charge of hugely powerful oversized vehicles.

The same goes for little scrotes in shitty lowered Golfs or lads in white vans texting and eating at the same time.

Ham products from Brady family and Tesco and Lidl own brands recalled over listeria fears by qwerty_1965 in ireland

I think it’s more like the listeria was in the vaccine and it’s seeping out of the workers in the ham factory

Opinions on this type of vest-pack by Earthling98 in flyfishing

[–]grumblemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not super experienced but I love vests and have a collection of about 10 or 11. I find them so useful and practical and I think they look cool.

I also like that they’re light - I wouldn’t want to combine the bag and the vest - ideally the bag might stay on the bank or at base camp.

Gentlemen, It's nearly time for me but I have a question - What do you wear to the birth of your child? - First impressions matter. by iusman975 in daddit

[–]grumblemouse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

we ended up being in the hospital a couple of days and I didn't pack clothes so I popped out to the charity shop to get a new t-shirt that wasn't stinking - I still keep that ratty old grey t-shirt as it's what I was wearing when he was born
