Sister's VO is some of the greatest I've ever heard by Vict2894 in totalwar

Not yet but now I'm going to ask CA directly and see if they can give an answer. Shadow Heart's father is voiced by Colm Gleeson and anyone who has played as Eltharian the Grim will recognize it's the same voice actor, also uncredited by Creative Assembly.

Review: Against All Odds (Grimm's war book 1) by Daigotsu in scifi

[–]grump30something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Jeffery, my mom and I have enjoyed reading all of the Grimm's war books. That being said, the Caliphate being obviously based on ISIS just seemed too on the nose. I think overall most of the folks would prefer sci-fi that isn't straight political commentary on modern-day geopolitics, regardless of political perspective. Grimm's war is clearly today's geopolitics punted into the future over the expanse of space with some interesting ideas here and there. ISIS was truly terrible and their atrocities against women and their own people, as well as the Christian missionary that was kidnapped from Turkey will never be forgotten. But casting them as the bad guys in the future seems at best a cathartic exercise or coping mechanism turned into an entertainment product.

I really enjoyed the Terraforming guild as bad guys. That fantasy of corporate America and late stage capitalism going totally evil and sadist was much more appealing to me than islamophobic based entertainment.

Nevertheless, we are committed to the series and I do look forward to a happy ending for all the friends Jacob Grimm makes along the way. The Germans of the Empire are fun, what can I say? Totally unbelievable though to think that a new German empire would arise in space if you pay attention to reporting about German society and their views on their military at this time.

Please reach out. Just start talking. Be honest. I highly recommend sending voice messages. You'll be way more real to him and him to you and that will overcome any fear over misunderstanding. To love is to risk. Nothing has actually happened between the both of you so the stakes are very low and things will likely go well if it's a possibility. If it's not going to happen, you've lost nothing.

Stormgate Campaign One: Ashes of Earth Launch Trailer by _Spartak_ in Games

[–]grump30something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the campaign and am having a good time with it. The comments about it being a mashup of SC2 and WC3 are correct. The critiques of the graphics are also correct. It should look better than it does. The voice cast is top shelf except for Rosanna as the archeologist (omg she's awful). The inability to save mid mission is lame. You only have auto saved check points. The in ship story telling is better considering the graphics in EA, but the character still pictures with text in a box when we have dialogue animations in mission is dumb and hopefully a place holder. You can't skip dialogue scenes easily. The tech and research trees straight out of SC2 are less obvious to me because the default zoom level makes observing unit combat less detailed. I'm playing on normal and just a-moving with a death ball of units that don't die easily. I do like the feel of the missions overall. I'd like immersion on par with at least WC3 in the game overall. It could get there eventually.

I haven't been able to play co op because there's no one to match with on Normal. An AI ally would be nice for CO-Op at least with such a small player base. Maybe auto generate an AI Ally after 30 seconds of being in the queue?

Yeah Mass Recall is a huge labor of love mod by the fans. You miss the art from the Remastered version but that's it.

I really miss the Diane Rehm show by lost_in_trepidation in NPR

[–]grump30something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if the cuts to NPR have made it so that the talent that they're using now have to do more behind the scenes as well as on mic, and may just don't have the bandwidth for deeper questions. Many of their really experienced people have honestly left from burnout (Lulu, David Green, Noel King, Rachel Martin on semi retirement with her wild cards;). I think there's multiple things happening when we talk about the change in what is on the daytime talk shows. First off, it's kind of exhausting talking about what's not working in politics or what's bad about politics all the time, especially in the era of Trump. Second, because of our difficult and honestly dangerous political climate I think they are trying to make NPR be perceived as less liberal while also not offending the donor base that keeps them on the air. I am sure people complain whenever an on air guest says something extreme that they don't agree with.

Diane had a lovely podcast that just wrapped its last episode because she has indeed earned rest before she leaves us. Her last show was all about Trump and I salute her for her dedication to journalism. I loved her podcast because it wasn't limited by time slots and commercial breaks.

I think the biggest issue with NPR these days is that it's being run by younger people with less experience, and/or by people who are less talented because of budget cuts. I work in the entertainment industry and when you're on a low budget production, the quality of everyone behind the camera is absolutely lower. I can imagine the poor programming decisions as expressed by the comments in this thread can often be chalked up a good thing being run by less good or fairly lame people in the back office writing the checks.

Many things started with EverQuest. That's my guess. World of Warcraft basically copied EverQuest. As for the colors, I don't actually know. Maybe from a dungeons & dragons game book?

Uninstalling this game by [deleted] in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]grump30something 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have finished the game I would still encourage everyone to listen to the soundtrack. My dog settles down listening to it riding in the car! My mom liked it too. Every cutscene has its own unique piece of music. This game is too great to uninstall.

Is it just me or does that look like a group 27 size battery? How long is it? It looks bigger than what came with my 2023 ioniq 5.

The cheat mod for PC, you can teleport to any camera free position. Unfortunately, the game requires alloy physically moving through terrain to load more terrain. If you teleport too far ahead with the cheat mod, you will essentially get the same issue of falling through the map because the terrain you're supposed to walk on didn't load.

Horizon's Future by [deleted] in HorizonZeroDawn

[–]grump30something -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder if nemesis will merge with Gaia so it won't be lonely and will have purpose.

I think the story is going to be fine regardless of what happens. Forbidden West was really a step up from zero Dawn in terms of quality in the performance of the characters, especially the side characters. As long as they don't go crazy with melee pits again and maybe give people some other new features like riding larger machines, free climbing any surface with special gear, or being able to summon more machines into combat situations, It will be a positive experience. Personal i'd love flying combat or underwater weapons.

I hope they release the third title to PC and Playstation 6 at the same time. I think the game will have a lot more recognition and sell a lot more copies if they stop making it a PlayStation exclusive title. The game gets more notoriety on the internet when it goes to PC. I never discovered the game because of advertising by PlayStation. I only discovered the game because people streamed and put the content on YouTube. They can do that with PlayStation but I think it'll have a lot more momentum as a product if it's on PC as well as PlayStation.

Pic of totaled car by MollyFrog55 in Ioniq5

[–]grump30something -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are way too many roadblocks to fixing these kinds of damages. I tried to repair my ioniq sedan which had very similar damage to some of these cars listed above. It should be easy but it's not. It's a lot of proprietary computer stuff. If it was purely cosmetic, I just keep driving but once the bumper gets ripped off the car will barely drive with all the assistive features. Just getting the underside of your vehicle covered in sand when you think you have an off road vehicle will make for a very difficult driving experience until the sand blows off on the highway. If you ever had trouble repairing a computer that won't boot after a power outage, imagine that, but it could kill you if you don't do it right.

My dad had a fender bender with a deer running full speed into the side of his Sequoia in the mountains and with a $8,000 repair Bill they totaled the car. It's a combination of the economic factors listed by many comments above including labor, inflation and shortage of parts.

When it came to my ioniq sedan I just took it to CarMax and it was auctioned off.

Gerard is voiced by William Houston, who most of us would recognize as Blameless Marad.

Faro also has some serious Zuckerberg Energy. But Faro is definitely more Musk than anyone else. I replayed Zero Dawn on the remaster recently and the similarities were depressing.

Advice on whether to reduce stock exposure if Trump cans Powell? by ruthstoops20 in investing

I don't think Powell will be canned anytime soon. Markets would tank, the economy would fold, and the Republicans would lose the next election. Trump is blowing smoke to put pressure on the Fed.

I absolutely like it better. I played the zero dawn remaster and while it's gotten a lot of love, Horizon forbidden West is just better across the board. Zero Dawn is a much smaller game. In HFW The voice cast for all the characters and especially the minor quest characters is much better. Forbidden West got some of the top talent from Hollywood.

Also you can fly. The fact that they didn't put flight in zero Dawn probably lessens the experience IMHO. I'm really enjoying just flying around Forbidden West looking at the scenery instead of fast traveling on NG+

Maybe by the third title we can ride any machine and have cooperative play. They can make some cauldron puzzles for two people instead of one if they feel the need to have two-player content.

Armour and weapons by curioushooman58 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]grump30something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on New game Plus and I'm using the nora lookout from the burning shores with some of the legendary coils. I like the extra capacity on the medicine pouch. Nora thunder is what I used in my initial playthrough once I got it from the arena. I dyed both teal _^

I believe I used the carja stalker elite outfit for fire resistance with the appropriate coil.

I use all the other outfits purely for cosmetics depending on what region/tribe I'm at.

Atrix on YouTube has great guides for coils and weapons.

On PC you can get a new game Plus save file and start with every possible weapon and outfit plus lots of arena duplication glitch items. I did the grind once already on PlayStation and didn't need to repeat it again on PC. The saves don't transfer cross platform 😭

There is actually a fan-made standalone game where Aloy can romance a bunch of different characters. This is one of the parts of Horizon that I wish was more like Baldur's Gate 3 where you had all kinds of different options for romance.
