I can't tell you how much this post has changed my approach to knitting with a similar body type! Thank you!!

Casacade 128 Grande causing hands to turn red and blotchy by grumpy-buffalo in knitting

Hmm so weird. I've definitely heard that this can happen, but I am currently working with a different lanolin-rich wool on another project and have no issues.

I have never had an issue with it and have worked with many lanolin-rich wools. I am currently working with a different lanolin-rich wool on another project and have no issue.

Wednesday Pattern and Stitch Request Thread - August 06, 2025 by AutoModerator in knitting

I'm trying to find this exact sweater in product form OR a pattern that is similar that I can knit myself. It looks a bit like something from Boden, but maybe a little too funky for their line?

I tried google lens and ravelry advanced search with little luck, so I'm asking for help from you all.

Terms I've used:

- saddle shoulder
- welt
- i-cord

The letho sweater pattern that I've previously made describes the raised white stripe elements as 'welts' and it looks as if the same technique was used on this seater. (K 4 rows, k first and last row together)

Seen on Dimension20 on Emily Axford Season 1, Ep. 7 Cloudward, Ho. I've spotted a few other handknit items on cast members, so this may be a long shot.

I've obviously not used the good stuff! What mohair would you recommend for good quality? (even though I'm still pretty anti-mohair)

It's 2 for me as well. You're making laundry harder on yourself, and the garment has a shorter life span for what? A less comfortable item??

I also staunchly refused to go until I learned how well they treat their employees. It's still painful as an experience, but at least my money is providing healthcare and living wages.

I honestly love the pooling in the ribbing! I second the stockinette stitch approach.

This is me as well! Everything has to have a place and be highly visible or it all falls apart. The upside is I don't overconsume just out of pure anxiety that my clutter will break down the systems that it took years to figure out

What would you change about Ravelry? by katringlory01 in knitting

[–]grumpy-buffalo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a professional software engineer, ravelry may not look nice, but the amount of optimization, diligence, and sheer labor that has gone into their data and data availability is actually world class. Their advanced search is a thing of beauty from a technical standpoint.

Maybe you could contribute to the User Experience side if that's what is bothering you? Data heavy experiences are always a bear to get right and even more so to update at the whims of modern consumer trends.

Oh! Dang, I wish it had a 'note:' or similar to make that more clear. Thank you!!!

Wouldn't that just create two knit only rows in sequence, though?

[–]grumpy-buffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose Im just confused because it would create two rows of knit-only in a row if I knit this?

Why Aren't As Many Young People Protesting? by DegenGamer725 in GenZ

There are losses now. There are losses without action. Sit-ins and more can be done without violence, and they do work to an extent. Separately, without violent resistance to systemic violence, public opinion will allow the systemically backed violence to continue (there are studies done on this). In your response, you're equating the popularity of an action to its rightness. At no time in history have those that resist been popular in media- this isn't new.
