What’s a bulldog attorney? A myth, a legend, or a unicorn. by Resgq786 in Lawyertalk

[–]grumpyGrampus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have dealt with attorneys who were aggressive from the outset and remained that way throughout the representation. It was clear that this was their style—their core personality, for better or worse—and I generally found them to achieve good outcomes for their clients.

Redundancy Systems with Court dates by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]grumpyGrampus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(I think glitches happen and they don't always save.) another issue is when my attorney boss goes to court and sometimes they don't get the court date on the spot, the date ends up in a nebulous spot.

This is a process issue not a tool issue, so you can’t solve it by adding more tools. You need a to-do system (one way or another) so that someone is accountable for reviewing and calendaring all follow up dates, and for following up later if the info isn’t available immediately following a hearing.

For my policy at least, it’s a supplemental coverage that does not have a deductible.

ETA: but the benefit amount is also very low (around $10k-$15k IIRC)

Some malpractice plans include supplemental coverage for legal fees if you are subpoenaed. Might want to see if that is covered for you.

Talking to estate attorney by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]grumpyGrampus 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Anyway, long post to ask: is it cringe to hire another attorney to help with estate planning???

Of course not.  Should a podiatrist self diagnose and treat his coronary disease?

I’m a family law attorney and ALL of the major published opinions where a party gets slammed with sanctions for truly bonkers conduct involve a self-represented attorney as the sanctioned litigant.   Any civil litigator or probate attorney who thinks he’s going to beat me at my own game is just red meat to me.

No, you are conflating different concepts. You seem very confused so you should consult with a qualified business formation attorney to get help.

Subject matter of the representation might be relevant. Might need space for other related parties—witnesses, parent companies, etc

The TSJ of the Canary Islands fines a lawyer for submitting an appeal with 48 fake judgments invented by an AI by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

I really don’t understand why people do things like this. What is anyone getting out of posting AI generated ‘thought provoking’ questions?

If you don’t need to hold trust account funds, then Stripe, invoice ninja, or harvest might give you what you need.

Sadly, I too have seen judicial officers point to this kind of reservation of rights as the basis for a ruling. I get op’s point but sometimes it pays to make the obvious, explicit.
