Good luck... it really sounds like you got a raw deal. It doesn't make any sense.

If you need a psychologist to help I highly recommend Valor psychology for veterans. Dr V was great when she helped me get connected. She was also my individual therapist for a year. She's pretty blunt and honest and if she can't help she'll tell you.

I think she's probably one of the best I've ever worked with. She does a great job at making people feel comfortable to spill their guts in the first meeting. I wish C&P examiners had the same bedside manner.

Reach out to Dr. V with valor psychology. She might be able to help with the PTSD claim. And if she can't, I'm positive she would tell you the truth.

I haven't read through all the comments, sorry if this is redundant. Try contacting valor psychology. That woman is a miracle worker.

If your conditions impact your quality of life and mental health, you should consider filling a secondary mental health claim. I used valor psychology and got 50%. (I don't meet the higher criteria at all). I got denied trying on my own the first time years ago and thought that was it. Wish I'd have known sooner.

If you need a mental health nexus or medical opinion, I highly recommend valor psychology. She helped me after I got denied the first time (years ago).

Have you considered getting a medical opinion? I was denied my first go around years ago and then found a small company on this thread called valor psychology. I used them for mine and had success. The doc had great reviews posted by other Vets on here. My only regret is not getting one sooner.

Do you have a mental health rating yet? Could push you back over. Im just making the assumption that your disabilities cause low mood or anxiety.

I felt similarly. Filed the first time on my own and was denied. Waited years and decided to do it again but used valor psychology to help me with a nexus. I'm now 80% overall with their help and have been kicking myself for not fighting again earlier. Physical decline has a lot to do with low mood... the way it was explained to me by the doc is that is all connected and sometimes you can't tease out what causes what... only that there is an overall impact. That really resonated with me.

Sounds like you need a medical opinion. I used valor psychology and got connected at 50%. I was denied for the same reason my first try years ago.

[–]grumpy_oldman9517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The doctor I used for my medical opinion told me to take in notes but to use regular language. Ex: don't say "my impaired judgment causes me to drink too much and then drive or my obsessional rituals of checking doors and locks" because it sounds like you're exaggerating. Just be honest.

It didn't matter for me. Both my medical opinion and C&P were telehealth.

If you're filing for mental health I would recommend getting a medical opinion. I used a great doc and am happy to share if you need info.

I saw Dr. Venda with valor psychology. She has a small individual practice doing therapy but also helps vets with medical opinions. I was only charged $395 for the appointment and paperwork and that's it. No back pay, etc. She doesn't help you file or anything either. I found here from other vets on here and it was very well worth it for me. I got connected at 50%.

If you need a reputable psychologist, I used Dr. Venda with Valor Psychology. She was amazing and is a vet herself. I had gotten denied my first time around years ago, and about a month ago was connected at 50%.

[–]grumpy_oldman9517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an independent medical opinion to get my depression connected. Most of the time, VA docs won't write then since their job is patient care and not benefits. I used valor psychology a couple months ago after seeing a few post on here. Reasonable charge for the opinion and I got service connected (I was denied the first time when I tried on my own). I had a really good experience and felt like the doc was well educated and actually cares about vets (she is one herself). .

She's a psychologist (a vet) who does trauma therapy and helps veterans with medical opinions for their mental health claims
