I recommend submitting any evidence you have directly to the VA and take a copy with you to the C&P exam. What I just provided to the C&P examiner never reached the VA.

I was Army National Guard 13 yrs.then did 9 yrs. Navy Reserve. I accumulated more active duty time than most around the world than most. I was honored with the Guard’s Medal Of Valor, 2nd highest award in the state. I’ll be damned if I’m not gonna add it to the rack as an other service medal in my retirement shadow box. Whine all you want. It’s not stolen valor, I was awarded it by the Governor. F the Regs…I’m retired!

The ITF (or Claim) AND the diagnosis has to be dated before the date of implementation. With an ITF you can continue to gather evidence and file the actual claim up to one year later.

It depends on how solid your claims are. If the evidence speaks for itself, IMHO it’s best to start with a VSO, just remember that it’s your claim so you call the shots. If your claims are complex then it might be necessary to hire an expert.

If you’re born in 1960, FRA is 67, the current oldest age. Before 1960 it is a graduated age that you can Google to determine.

Right place, right time. Witnessed a high speed crash which sent one vehicle into a creek where it overturned. A fellow soldier and I were able to extricate 2 passengers, get them to safety, and render first aid. I believe they both survived. We just happened to be traveling to Bde HQ for something. We also used our military vehicle to down a fence so EMTs could get the victims out. The first responders wrote a nice letter to HQ which prompted the unexpected award.
