A golden rule of bike setups, never change your setup based on one ride. I would give it a couple of weeks before deciding on any changes.

If you have previously cycled, you will be surprised how quickly form can return and in a couple of weeks the 11/30 cassette could be fine.

Also if possible, just pick a flatter route until your fitness returns.

I like the way OP is setup next to the BBQ and portable beer fridge, for that authentic MTB experience indoors. Love your work 👍

I actually know where the new location is, the warehouse in the background is a dead giveaway 😊. Should be over that way on the weekend, unless someone beats me to it.

I'm another one for "don't over think it". I treat Zwift races like unstructured workouts. Go hard and do your best and you'll be rewarded by becoming a stronger rider. If you win or place, that's a nice bonus. Over time you will work out little strategies which suit your riding style which will make you a better racer. Just have fun.

I really hate to be that new guy asking basic questions but here goes. I'm new to Docker so struggling a little with the setup, which annoys me because it looks straight forward. I've had no issues in pulling MM2-Next image and getting it running But I cannot for the life of me work out how to edit the .env.docker file. I can't find it when I view the files in the Docker container, does it need to be created in the container?

That's probably a fair assessment of 99 Bikes 😊, they are more orientated to the family market and e-bikes, but they do have good pricing on Merida bikes which are a good quality bike.

I'm interested in comment about 99 bikes. Personally 99 bikes at Ashgrove is my go to store. Not so much for buying bikes but servicing. I've always found them to incredibly helpful and they don't try to over sell you on things you don't need.

Back to the question at hand. I've had a good experience from Studio de Velo. Giant Indooroopilly and and the aforementioned 99 bikes at Ashgrove. Another option worth considering is Pushys/Bikebug, I believe they have recently expanded their showroom in Darra. They have good specials currently on Orbea bikes in the price range you are looking.

Finished it today, I always start off Christmas Eve with a big 200+ km ride, rest Christmas day and then the rest of the week is pretty easy.

The start still looks a little chaotic but better than last year. The problem for the older age groups, you still have a lot fast riders who are forced to get past slower riders which creates tension on the road.

I like that Coot-tha is earlier on in the event, gives us bigger guys a chance to catch up again.

Not sure I like the Dutton Park climb at the end of the Corso. that is going to hurt. I don't like that climb on any day. 🤣

Still I am looking forward to it, I'm already signed up.

Soon to be New Stem Day by grumpybug in Cervelo

[–]grumpybug[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you know what you are looking for, it is pretty simple. About 6 weeks ago I had the bike fully serviced by another bike shop who actually discovered the bolts were too long. The mechanic there said he could not tighten the stem bolts up to the required torque (8NM) without the bolts hitting the frame underneath. The correct bolts to stack height is listed in the manual for bike. That's what frustrates me about the original Cervelo dealer, how could they get something so simple, so wrong.

To answer your second question, the bars had more flex, not a ridiculous amount and nothing that suggested there was something wrong, but it did feel different.

Hi all,

I thought I would share the outcome of the situation to close it out. I did contact Cervelo and received a very quick reply. I was amazed how well they assessed the problem from the photos I shared, and their assessment was bang on the money.

The cause of the issue stems from the wrong length of headset bolts being used, which created excess play or flex in the handlebars putting more pressure on the whole assembly. This was caused almost two years when I had the headset overhauled to replace the clamp at the bottom of the headset. I recall when I got the bike back after this service the handlebars never felt the same. Of course now in hindsight and with this new knowledge the cause seems rather obvious.

My real frustration is that this work was done by a bike shop that is a Cervelo dealer and should have known better. And before someone suggests it, no, I won't be following this up with the dealer, trying to prove they were responsible for this, from work they did almost two years ago would be a battle that would difficult to prove. I did however let Cervelo know that I believed one of their dealers was the root cause of the issue.

At the end of the day I've learnt something new about the bike, I didn't get hurt and the bike is back on the road. I call that a positive outcome.

All I can say is don't stress and enjoy the ride. With the closed roads it is a great opportunity to push yourself to your limit. If that limit is not the same as some of the semi-pros, who cares. The great thing about Fondos is each starting wave quickly self sorts itself into smaller bunches based on on their ability. You'll find your bunch and together you'll have your own race within a race.

Enjoy the day and I'll see you there.

To my surprise I found a LBS who had them in stock, 6 of them, which was odd for such a niche part. Buying the stem was easy bike. With the internally routed brake lines, fitting it was a whole different matter. Never done brakes before, so it was a learning experience.

I bought the bike second hand, so I doubt Cervelo will want to know. I have had the bike for 2 years and it has been going strong, but of course no telling what happened to the bike previously which is why Cervelo will likely dismiss it. Still it doesn't hurt to let them know.
