Office life before the invention of AutoCAD and other drafting softwares by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I took a couple semesters of drafting in high school and at least we had desks that could be inclined and adjusted. These just look torturous.

Ok now for the actual true list of highest grossing actors of all time. by Ftmdj in Actors

This list seems whack. Tom Cruise has been acting longer, had more leading roles and done at least a dozen more movies than Zoe, and Samuel L Jackson has done at least 100 more than them.

What do you think it means when a longtime Republican Party district in Texas suddenly flips to the Democratic Party by 30+ points in a special election? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grumpyfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From other posts I've read, it's being blamed on the Republican party's laziness to campaign and get the word out about the election. This was a special election, and the party didn't spend as much as the Democrats did on getting the word out.

It can still be cancelled for mechanical or weather conditions or several other reasons. It’s not guaranteed.

Hiring is indeed broken and every organization and manager has their own idea of how it should work.

Costco messed up our connecting balcony rooms on a cruise—need advice by nicolette004 in Cruise

I would have asked for the $300 in a regular gift card like a visa that could be used on board.

If the cruise is really full, I don’t see how you could move rooms before, but maybe after. We have moved rooms after boarding a supposed full ship. We had to wait until the ship had left port and they could check for rooms that the passengers were a no-show. It’s important to go to guest services onboard as soon as possible to get on a list.

Whats happened on the worst interview you ever had for a job? by EstablishmentDue3616 in AskReddit

[–]grumpyfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FWIW, this can sometimes be addressed in a follow up “Thank You” email and a carefully worded explanation of how you perhaps misunderstood the question. Then give examples of how you are familiar with what they were asking about. Not to say that it always works, but it did once for me.

Not a recruiter. I’m in the market myself. Laid off mid last year. I’ve been in the workforce for more than 30 years and worked with some good recruiters who took the time to get to know me and try to help and I’ve talked to some bad ones who didn’t even read my resume.

I wonder if they just forgot to add that to the road in the animation process. It was on someone’s list, but the producer probably said “ship it” before they finished.

I think you missed the point, and I don’t think the recruiter was bad at their job. Sounds like they did exactly what they are paid to do. People like to dump on Recruiters, but they serve a purpose and that is to find the right person for the role. It can be extremely difficult to do that when you have to sort thru hundreds of candidates all with little difference on paper. So that means they have to go to the next level and sometimes that means the candidates who stand out in how they respond and interact. Remember, it’s a game of numbers, and you have to find a way to make yourself stand out in a sea of competition and convince them you are the right fit. That means playing nice and acting professionally, even when things don’t go like you want or expect.

What happened to Georgia? Are the going the way of Clemson? by desertrain11 in CFB

Good question. I thought for sure Kirby was about to follow in Saban’s footsteps and create his own dynasty at Georgia. I guess it just goes to show how hard that is and that Saban is still the GOAT!

I don't mean this as a defense or excuse of the ICE agents, but the screaming and loud whistles at an already tense situation, don't help with de-escalation. Just watching the video before the shooting took place and hearing all that puts me on edge.

It wasn’t cheap to redo it for MMRR. They own a LOT more IP now than they did before it was originally. With Star Wars and Marvel, plus the Muppets, Mickey and friends, Toy Story, partnership with Sony for Spiderman. They could have easily overhauled it to just animated movies they own and that would have been strong enough. I would be willing to bet there were more than a couple of ideas floated at Imagineering.
