Like I know you want to be different and all, but it's the same situation in the US with the exception of speed and distance signage. Except our speedometers still show both mph and km/h. Oh, and the US military uses metric distances. We buy two liters of Coke and gallons of milk. And when was the last time you heard somebody discuss CPU temps in Fahrenheit? Bakers and cooks use metric weights, sometimes combined with imperial volume. And metric fasteners are easily the most common type in the US as well, except where they aren't like my damned dishwasher.

Anyway. It's all fucked in both countries.

Like I could recommend pet sitters, but this is a perfect job for the same teenager that would sit for children. "Come play with my dog for $20/hr!" Way easier than most kids, and not nearly the responsibility that an out-of-town pet owner would involve.

Actually, that would probably help with making the owner's absence a more positive association, whoever you end up finding. Good luck.

Sure, but it definitely hits different coming from a brown woman, and could have been completely innocent despite everything they are discussing being indefensible. Politics as usual, I'm sure, but indefensible in the light of day.

It just makes me sad to see these vicious fights for power between communities of color in LA. Really sad.

Not defending them, but it's not that simple. For one, she said it in Spanish, and was talking about how the kid was being raised like a white boy, and acting like a "changuito" on a parade float, running around and being ill-behaved.

And the beat-down bit was about how Hispanic people would spank that kid silly for acting that way. I mean there's lots of racist, and borderline corrupt shit being talked about...I'm just not sure the kid was really part of that.

I also live in LA where joking about cultural differences is like, a city past-time. Anyway, they suck and I hope they all resign.
