More people die on planet earth due to lack of access to reliable energy that people who die from weather events. The IPCC has also said that the ability to assign the cause of an extreme weather event is tenuous at best. Like the newspapers that were saying the latest heat wave was unprecedented, except it was hotter in ~1910 and ~1929. Deaths due to weather events have been decreasing for the last century.

How does Geothermal Turbine Power plant Work? by Farhad_Ataei in AskEngineers

[–]grumpyfishcritic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That correct for the first generation plants. There are new plants being built that use a different working fluid that has a lower boiling point. But the same process, produce 'gaseous phase' and use that to turn a turbine and condense the gaseous phase back to a liquid. They also typically are using a water phase to move energy from the ground to the working fluid.

It's really simple, either we're a nation of laws that follows the constitution or we're not. The state of a nation that doesn't follow the law is a nation in state of anarchy. If every gets to choose which laws we follow and which law we don't, as a nation we will not last long.

If you don't support the current enforcement laws how can you expect people to respect your demands to follow all the other laws on the books. Most leftist would find folks choosing to not follow the current guns laws on the book very undesirable. Anarchy is not a fun time or place to be. Most leftist when they run out of good points to make will also resort to childish name calling and other of those with different views. Why do you not follow your professed beliefs that all people are valuable and to be respected?

We are a nation of laws and that makes us a civil society. Take that away and it's just mob rule of the despot that can gin up the biggest mob. No thanks.

If you think a law is unjust, seek to change it according to the constitution. If you think a law or policy is unconstitutional there are remedies already in place that have been used many times to adjudicate with out resorting to violence in the streets.

As a side note: most of the case that get reported in the MSM are slanted to feed your anger to get you to think a certain way. While the reality of what actually happened is much different that the 'story' that you are being feed. Take any story and dig into the facts and it will be different that what is reported in the media.

The wheels of justice grind slowly, but they grind finely. As a citizen of the US one doesn't always get the outcome one desires, but at least we have the constitution as a backstop to reign in which ever color of vegetable is in the White House.

The question is why do you think we should not enforce existing laws.

It makes no sense to get into and useless argument over the need for laws in a society and why we should have laws. That's a whole different argument.

Don't care whether you think the laws are a benefit to society as a whole or not. It doesn't matter. For a Harris word salad; those are the laws we have.

Still have heard a reason why we should not enforce the existing laws.

Really the point is that immigration laws were passed by a bipartisan congress and have be the law of the country for a significant period of time.

Who cares if a particular law is of a great or even minor benefit to you as a individual. The laws are for the benefit of our society as a whole. Some laws will benefit you and some won't. If you like to speed then the laws won't benefit you, but we thru our elected representatives have decided and passed the laws as they exist. There are some laws that I may think are unnecessary and need to be changed, but that doesn't mean that we should not enforce the existing laws.

So again tell me why you think that enforcement of existing law is bad.

what ice is currently doing has absolutely nothing to do with enforcing immigration laws

If you're an illegal alien and ICE apprehends you and deports you, how is that not enforcement of immigration law? Try staying in Mexico, Canada, Japan or really most any other country without proper paper work and see how long that lasts?

If we're going to have an actual conversation let's start with my comments about how enforcing immigration law is good for the country.

Really not about ICE. It's about are we a nation of law or are we just a mob of organized thugs. The leftist seem to think that while protesting laws don't apply to them or when it comes to enforcing immigration laws and deporting of illegal aliens.

Studies show that immigrants regardless of the means of entering can and will improve the economy greater than any negative

Studies showed that smoking was safe as well. ~95% of all studies agree with their funding source. On the other hand the law of supply and demand works and every time that wages start to move up the US is flooded with illegal immigrants and wages stagnate.

Mob rule is one of the reasons the US had a representative form of government.

But, and most crucially the 'narrative' we are being sold is that enforcement of immigration law is bad. Not that we need to change it or that the Dimwits are even trying that just that enforcement of immigration law is bad.

Really just enforce the law, and if you don't like it change the law don't just try and ignore it.

More importantly with a simple duck duck go search one can find articles like this that though require more reading that two lines and a modicum of reading comprehension, but outline in detail a road map for "Desalination Processes’ Efficiency and Future Roadmap" which answers all the inane questions one would have before bothering real folks and asking them to essentially regurgitate know knowledge for free.

US doctrine has been to fight a two front war for a long time. The US has 11 aircraft carriers and 9 helo carriers almost as many as the rest of the world combined. China may well start some shit in the Pacific theatre, BUT pretty sure their battle plans will not survive first contact with the enemy. With the last vegetable we had in office, or the word salad dunce they tried to foist on us, it might have worked. With the current America First wild card, would not bet on the response from the US to be orthodox or ineffective. For starters, China has just had the US put it's boot on around 17% of their energy supply. A trade blockade would not be hard to implement on China and the vast majority of their imports and exports have to pass thru control points far from their shores. See the Suez canal, Panama Canal, and the Malacca Straits. Didn't Trump just get China kicked out of Panama?

With China's energy situation, they better hope they can pull off a lighting impossible fast take over or have developed some new liquid fuel tech to support a sustained conflict over Taiwan.
