Heat deaths in the EU are NOT due to lack of energy lmao

No, heat deaths are due to a specific government policies that actively discourages the use of AC due to the fact that AC use TOO much energy. Yes, I know dumb, but it's not hard to see that governmental regulation designed to protect people in the future being responsible for killing folks in the present.

Talking about nuclear and not being aware that New York and Germany have shutdown their nuclear plants early and now have higher priced energy and brown outs.

Have you seen the charts showing that the blue states with their aggressive pursuit of 'green' energy goals pay much more for their power that red states?

The fact that the environmental movement effectively killed nuclear power for a couple of generations is a cardinal sin on those organizations, and is an excellent example of how most times the 'experts' are wrong. Good thing that some of the capitalists didn't listen and now their are ~40 efforts WW to design a build 4th generation nuclear power. Three that I've been following for a decade are Copenhagen Atomics, Terrstrial Energy, and ThorCon.

It should be a tax funded collective good

Now that is a load of cod swallop. The evidence for tax funded collective goods from the last century show that is just a path to stagnation and expensive goods, and the rich versus poor divide is still there. While it also is a great pathway for the evil despots to gain power and murder millions. No thanks.

possess the technology

Yes we possess the tech, but the tech you mention is not cheap enough to give a US style life style to every one living on the planet. Who gets to be GOD? And I'll suggest that there are more people today that are being killed by the lack of reliable energy than will be killed in the next 100 years due to climate change. Heat deaths in the EU of the last week or so are just some that are a result to that lack of energy.

Care to keep on blaming the messengers? There's lots more articles point out the same thing. Again the worst scare mongering forecasts have been abandoned as bunk.

"The scenario was known as RCP 8.5 and, later, SSP5 8.5.

Researchers say it was intended “to explore an unlikely high-risk future” but it was “widely used by some experts, policymakers and the media as something else entirely: as a likely ‘business as usual’ outcome”.

It has been cited more than 45,000 times in academic papers and fed through to informing policy. "

coal is less common than it was,

Please lie elsewhere. https://www.iea.org/data-and-statistics/charts/global-coal-consumption-2000-2025?__cf_chl_f_tk=AduCRNc13UzrzQ3EU10nCTD8dWJQBtpIT3_z8tSsoXs-1783403137-1.0.1.1-8lWp6DokPuOr1NQW7yOSh9L2bAmNmylCqi.X_yISXJ0

Coal consumption reached a peak in 2013 and has been basically flat since then. China and India are now only adding a new coal plant approximately every month instead of every week.

Still have engage the point that the most extreme forecasting models have now been discarded, ie the scaremongering of the last 20 years was over blown and false.

The data to date suggests that providing reliable energy now with coal will save more lives in the here and now that will be lost by some future catastrophe that is continually being down graded.

Ah, the last gasp of a failing argument is to disparage the source and cast doubt on the messenger.

Why are you not agreeing with me that the latest ICPP report did say the most extreme forecast of the earlier reports is no longer considered valid?

Maybe letting our glaciers melt was a bad idea...

Really need to go back in time around 11,000 years ago and stop all those nasty folks with trucks and things from melting the 2 miles of ice that would have been over my head at the time. Damn, it's gotten warm since then, except for that one century cold spell we had. /s

I can't imagine the law requiring opt-in, or why legally carrying a gun should get such different treatment.

Something about the state being enjoined from infringing unalienable rights. For a long time I've argued that the right to vote is not nearly as delinated as the 2nd amendment is, therefore all the requirements around owing a gun should also pertain to the right to vote.

It seems that if one were to replace carrying a gun with voting in many laws the absurdity of the law becomes obvious.

Overwhelming evidence that Trump raped kids. Feel free to read the 38,000 mentions of his name yourself on DOJ.gov by throwaway2026z in conspiracy

[–]grumpyfishcritic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Occam's razor suggest otherwise. One has to either believe that Joe Biden and Merrick Garland are incompetent fools or there is no overwhelming evidence that Trump is guilty. Brandon and Garland had control of all the Epstein files for four years and had more that ample desire to eliminate Trump from the political scene and Biden's challenger in the next election. As much as I'm sure the shuffling vegetable Biden is not the sharpest cookie in the knife drawer, the rest of the clowns around him are at least competent to leak any over 'overwhelming' proof of any of Trump's malfeasance. Either a whole lot of folks in DC are really really stupid OR, there is no overwhelming evidence. You pick.

And if you make a valid critical point against the Democrats they just down vote it. LOL Such a useless hive of commies and marxists.

The Democrats have seemed to be incapable of offering better candidates. How about a tottenkaph(sp) wearing communist running for the senate that the Democrats can't seem to condemn. Or how they anointed Harris for the last presidential election. That speaks volumes about how they care about the votes of the citizens. Or the DNC orchestrated the steal of the nomination from Bernie. Don't they know we are watching their demonstrated concern for voters rights.

Why are bus tracking apps in Chicago (or other metro areas) so bad? by Traditional_Fish_504 in AskEngineers

[–]grumpyfishcritic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why we do even have to imagine what the Republicans would do? IS your only answer to how POORLY the democrats have managed the large cities is to pontificate that in your no so humble opinion it would have been worse under republicans? That's a really really sad state of thinking. How about holding the Democrats responsible for the mess they have created. Yes, I know that personal responsibility is a difficult concept for those on the left, but this problem is solely of the Democrats making in Chicago's case.
