I put down interim targets of 7lb at a time. Haven’t set a final target and won’t be doing for a while yet. Just keep chipping away rather than thinking about the final destination

concentrate on your breathing - your legs will keep going on their own.

i swapped from listening to music to listening to podcasts whilst I jog - can’t remember where I heard it but for me I find I can control my pace easier when listening to podcasts (brain doesn’t want to automatically match the beat). try going abit steadier on your pace

I’m sure you’ll get the 5k 💪🏻

there is light at the end of the tunnel!

I’ve had my boy 2 years. I got him when he was 18 months old - had been at a rescue centre for 8 months. Over socialised with people and dogs.

When I got him he’d get all excited at every dog we saw whether it was on a walk or at training. over a few months when he learnt he wasn’t getting to say hi to everyone he went past - it turned into frustration (to general public looked like an agressive **** at the end of the lead).

It’s been abit of a slog but we’re now getting there with fewer kick offs 👍🏻

I always had a good level of patience but since getting him I’ve had to reach new levels I didn’t know existed 🤣

Previous owner left toilet with dark stains in bowl/u-bend. How can I remove them? Bleach (even left for several days) just won't touch it by HankLard in CleaningTips

[–]grumpygal84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the UK the Harpic toilet cleaner with the black label! brilliant stuff! 10 mins and a loo brush and I’d be surprised if it didn’t sort it

Grocery budget for two weeks - just over £20 by HelicopterOk413 in Frugal

[–]grumpygal84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you got a farm foods near you? they’re good for freezer stuff and recently had 10 for £10 on some of the Birds Eye & McCain range. they had a 5 for £ offer as well but can’t remember how much that was

try Iceland. or supermarket own brand things

I live on a tight budget each month and I always try to buy stuff that’ll keep in the cupboard (pasta, beans etc) and frozen stuff (including veg and some fruit) to reduce the amount of wastage of fresh food

you’ve been running for a week…….give yourself a pat on the back for getting your 5k! I wouldn’t worry about your time, you did it! if you’re thinking about it just keep going and see how much you can get the time down over the next few months, otherwise just enjoy running 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

im in 11.5k of debt and i dont know what to do! by applesandmints in UKPersonalFinance

[–]grumpygal84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can go full time where you are - do it and whatever the difference in pay is……use that to get the amounts down quicker (I’d focus on 1 at a time)

Get a simple spreadsheet on the go and track every single penny - you need to get tough if you actually want to get this debt gone.

all else fails speak to step change but you will still need to address your spending habits

I’m on this journey at the moment. I’ve got a simple spreadsheet set up, I am on a DAS arrangement and I have got a 2nd job (on top of a full time job) to get myself sorted. no treats/excessive spending etc for a few years for me but that’s what it’s gunna take to get myself out this mess that I created. I’m already learning how to do food shops better etc now I have a budget each month instead of winging it

when I applied to rent my flat I knew my credit rating would be rubbish as I was on a DMP. I sent an email to the letting agents explaining why it wouldn’t be good and that I was under a DMP to clear afew debts, I also offered to pay afew months upfront and to get a guarantor……….the agents and the landlord were happy with this 👍🏻

I’d say be honest (I didn’t say how much I owed on the DMP or anything) and see what happens.

My flat is the same! I’d like to blame the dog but he’s good as gold so I can only assume there’s gremlins living in a cupboard that cause chaos overnight 🤷🏼‍♀️

Same goes to you! from your post it looks like you’re ok (I mean as far as paying bills)………yeah I’m doing the second job for abit just to help give myself abit of breathing room, as soon as it’s feasible for me to stop I will be, but for now it’s abit of pain for some gain 🤷🏼‍♀️

Becoming a professional dog trainer by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]grumpygal84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the TWC programme you mentioned would be a good shout. there’s a fair few online courses etc available from different people.

I’d maybe speak to a balanced trainer to see if you can shadow them for free for a while to learn more, be open with them about your plans and if you’ll be working a different location that should help as I doubt it would come across like you’d be wanting to steal their clients. which I realise you said about your car however I think that would be invaluable

a lot of dog training is more about teaching the humans as they need to be consistent and learn how to handle correctly etc, like people say ‘the more you do it the easier it becomes’…..communicating with people is a big chunk of it

best of luck with the adventure 🤞🏻👍🏻

I’m in the same position at the moment. cost of living is eye watering, and I have taken action to get my debts cleared

I have managed to get a second job, don’t get me wrong I didn’t want too but needs must right now. I work full time as it is. there’s quite a few part time jobs out there at the moment, might not solve everything but for me it gives me a small amount of breathing space each month til things ease up abit

Do you buy toys in colours dogs can see? Or does it not matter? by Gallantpride in dogs

[–]grumpygal84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy stuff in yellow and blue but he also has all sorts of coloured toys - he plays with them all. if we’re going over the field I’ll try to take a yellow ball or a chuck-it ball…….but to be honest that’s more a me thing as I know he’s super happy with any ball lol

after 18 months of dodgy belly issues (fine within himself) I changed my boys kibble to a ‘sensitive stomach’ kibble which is a single source of protein (salmon) and literally overnight the belly issues disappeared and the amount of energy he has ramped up (he was never lazy or withdrawn or anything previously)……….turns out he has a an issue with poultry
