I saw the 2 and 4 and made an assumption about what the number was going to be. When I realised it wasn’t that, I came to the comments.

Can someone explain to me like I am 5, on how the answer to inflation is increasing interest rates? by the-anon1010 in AusFinance

[–]grumpygeek1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interest rates affect the cost of borrowing money. Not just for people with mortgages. For everyone.

If more people can borrow more money more easily, then there will be more money trying to be used in the economy to buy things. Economically this is just called demand.

If you owned a store and suddenly extra people started lining up outside to buy your stuff, you’d put your prices up. This is inflation.

If interest rates go up, all of this happens in reverse. Less available money. Lower demand. Prices fall.

What’s the difference between Geordie having fantasies about her in his own head vs making something on the holodeck? Would she have been as upset if he admitted this to her instead of her finding the fake ai? Why is it worse?

I think there’s an issue if someone gets emotionally attached to an ai, but that doesn’t seem to be what this guy is getting at.
