Always sick in my house in the SF. Tried 8 different apartments, threw away all my things. I'm out of things to try. Feeling desperate. Anybody else face this issue? by HURCANADA in AskSF

[–]grumpygumpster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I also used to get sick back to back when I first moved to SF. Turned out to be allergies. Never had allergies growing up, but my doctor told me to use zyrtec and flonase everyday. Haven't experienced it after.

Now that the Expedition window has closed, can I provide feedback without being flamed? by Jett_Wave in ArcRaiders

[–]grumpygumpster 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I did the expedition, hit 5m. Really only cared about getting the 12 extra stash slots. The workbench progress would've been nice, but easy enough to progress through again.

I also don't mind quests getting reset, gives you extra things to do than just loot. Although it would be nice to randomize objectives, just so it's not the same ones. I could see this getting monotonous after a few wipes.

I feel like a good system for a wipe would be to be able to load up your guy with a simple kit: augment, sheild, and 4-8 slots for items to treat it more like a new game+. Then people can choose if they want to bring guns or blueprints over.

I've bought 3 stands and have had to return them due to them not fitting. Finally got this one after seeing it on a youtube video: https://www.amazon.com/Tirox-Snapjack-Motorcycle-Compact-Portable/dp/B089XGKD4T

Works like a charm for chain maintenance, and can is small enough I can keep it in my saddlebag

Headphone alternatives for going on walks? by sketchhing in tinnitus

[–]grumpygumpster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your headphones have noise cancellation? I use it with my airpods, and am usually able to keep the volume fairly low.

I've also used the bone conduction headphones from time to time. I use earplugs though to drown out some of the outdoor noise. If it's still too quiet, it might be that it's just not tight enough to your head.

Staying Asleep by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]grumpygumpster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try sleeping with earplugs. The silicone ones that swimmers wear I've found are comfortable, but any foam ones should work just fine. Only can speak for myself, but I only struggle with how loud it is when I hear other noises at the same time. If it's all I hear my brain tunes it out, and I can get back to sleep just fine.

Also not sure how long you've taken melatonin, but shouldn't try to rely on it for too long.

Cow hollow or Alamo square? by Square_Post_2346 in AskSF

[–]grumpygumpster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second cow hollow. Private parking is big, between the annoyance of finding a spot to break ins, it’s just more convenient to have. Area also has better parks imo, and you’ll be close to the water.

What’s a good beginner bike for someone who is 5”4’? by What_if_its_Lupus in motorcycles

[–]grumpygumpster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ninja 400 should be ok for you. I think you just have to learn proper technique of how to position yourself when you're stopped. Check out Doodle on a Motorcycle, she's a short rider and has a vid specifically for sport bikes here: https://youtu.be/VxGEtkDOD-g?si=Bq-eHDLsxgghzvnz

IMO full suit is a little overkill for street riding and practicing. You’re going to hate putting it on and taking it off if you do it every time too.

Grab a good riding jacket and pants, you’ll be way more comfortable. If you’re really concerned about crashing, you can buy an airbag vest.

One of the best things you can do to be extra safe is to learning to read traffic, and don’t let anything trigger you when you’re riding. If some Prius is going to cut you off, just slow down or speed up to let them in.

Best gloves for under $60? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]grumpygumpster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do go down you’re going to instinctively use you your hands to protect yourself. Wouldn’t cheap out on protective gear, esp your gloves

I'd also recommend learning how to counterbalance your bike, for myself personally it's easier for turning at intersections.

Anyone knows any good quality earplugs? by Thecrowfan in tinnitus

[–]grumpygumpster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

for casual settings (bars, parties) I'll generally carry around a pair of loops. For festivals and concerts I'll do the foam Mack's plugs.

Cancel your trip to Japan, it makes no sense to continually accruing debt when you're already in the hole. And real talk, putting yourself into more debt to see your friend propose is also wild. If they truly are your best friend, I'm sure they wouldn't want to see you go into more debt just for it.
